Ardu-copter flipping sideways instead of taking off

Highlighted the leading edges, the prop always spins toward the leading edge, just switch them around.

OK - very interesting stuff i think might be going on - It seems like the quad wants to actually take off and not to flip - but i have little experience with quads of this size and it is a closed space, so i am going very slowly with throttle push ups. Will be back with results in several minutes.

It seems to be better - but the quad wants to take off at quite a high throttle power: In my estimation maybe even 50% throttle or more. And what more, it still doesn't take off very symmetrically. It does not seem to flip now, but kind'a want to take off side ways. This is a closed space where i have 3 meters space in each direction - so i can't let it really take off this way, if it is not a very symmetrical take off.
b.t.w i need it to do the things it is supposed to do - in a closed space, so taking it out to test it might be only an mid-way possibility fore me.
Any ideas how i can improve it further from this phase? Should i go again through the Mission Planner wizard calibration process from the beginning? Anything else i can do to improve take of and hovering stability and symmetry?

Hi sounds like it needs tuning , p and I gains are important this locks the quad in more , sorry can't help you with that FCB I have never used one , go on you tube lookup Brian on painless360 he has done a set of videos on setting up , it should tune up ok now the mechanics are right

Just thinking back about a year ago I help a guy with his quad it was unstable due to being in a small room the down wash from the props was hitting the walls and coming back at the quad as soon as he took it out side it was fine , you may have the same problem

Thanks a lot for the help hotneil, GJH, Quest, Jackson and anyone else who replied - At last the right setup and not some basic error that is preventing a take off.. been trying to get to this situation for several days now - so your great!

Would appreciate any further advice regarding fine tuning.

Thanks!

Ok not bad , if tuning don't work we may have to rethink motor props set up have you got a link for the motors they may work ok on a 4 cell which will give you more RPM just looked they will go to a 5 cell so may look later at upping the cell count of the battery

It looks as most that use this motor on a 650 quad run a 4 cell set up,I have a 700 class and the motors are 650 kv on a 15x5.5 prop
