Hi I'm just starting out flying
Sema x5,hubsan x4,some micro ducted, nothing fpv yet, still getting to grips with the sticks

Kerry based

Hiya I'm around Chicago but think this forum is pretty scattered around the world, might find someone here but I've heard facebook groups is the way to find locals (that said I don't really use facebook so understand if you don't want to try there)

Nah not on Facebook
I lit the beacon now we wait
U get any flying done lately
I'm flying eachine e010 indoors
My hubsan x4 is getting a new rear motor so I broke out the new x4 but thunder storms drove me inside

Yup been on and off with the storms here too and some windy days but still get out to fly at least a couple times a week, lucky to live a block from a park where I can at least fly my new tiny hawk 2, my 5" one is in a new frame now and got to fly a bit but still has some weebly wobbly in the flight so have to do some playing with tuning parameters (everything is soft mounted now). Will post a clips video sometime soon just need to find the time to edit together some clips.

Had a rough week lost an x4 due to battery issues
A bad crash with a whoop ended 1 motors service
Feeling like I'm never going to get the hang of it so I went for a quick 18 to remind me I'm not just bad at flying ha ha

Yah I crash every time I go fly I just try to make sure the crashes are something my quad can come away from and be repaired.

Finally got a decent set of sticks
Anyone done the firmware upgrade to 10ch
Is it worth doing for flying quads?

I'd say no not unless you plan to have a gimbal camera on there with remote control or the like, you can mix switches into a single channel usually so don't need as many channels as switches your using even but still I usually just need 4 channels for the sticks and use two more for switches (one mode switch to toggle between angle/air/turtle mode, and another switch to arm/disarm).

Perfecto waiting on my multi protocol yokey and my usb cable
Planning on downloading some sims.
Any experience on them?

Yup love some sims on a rainy day and it's the best way to learn acro flying fpv. I started off line of sight (LOS) only at first just learning throttle control and basic manuevering with angle mode, but when putting goggles on angle mode feels like the quad is fighting you all the time (which it sort of is to try and get back to level) learning acro for Fpv is the way to go will save lots of time and money using a sim. I like "velocidrone" the best but "lift-off" or "fpv freerider" (on mobile too) are worth checking out they are all pretty cheap and usually have free demos (one motor or esc saved worth of money to unlock :D)

I've done the 10 channel mod, it's necessary if you want to have rssi displayed in your osd. Also it will allow you to use all your switches and sliders for things like turtle mode or turning on/off leds. Well worth it.

I've a lot of parts already but still waiting on some so I'm flip flopping almost every day as to what I want to do.
I like the idea of turtle mode for the micros but I assume I need an FC that has this on it?
Kind of getting bogged down now with info.
Would be nice to have a local club but alas...
Few more weeks and we should know more when normal will start again

I'm getting excited but tired of waiting for parts now
Weather is too bad to be outside and flying LOS around the house is ok but meh now
I want full fpv or I'm going on strike haa

Hey yah just noticed questions about turtle mode. Basically the FC needs to have firmware that supports it but think back to somewhere in the 3.x or any 4.x betaflight version will have "crash over flip mode" if you enable expert toggle and go to the modes tab I think. Only other requirement is using brushless motors I think so can reverse the motors with d-shot control to ESCs. The tiny hawk 2 supports it and works well for that one, on my 5" it works okay but has to be fairly short grass or concrete or else can get stuck more easily than the tiny guy.
