Anyone have problems with DJI honouring there warranties?
Recently I bought a new Phantom 2 vision +. On the 4 th flight the gimbal started acting up. Soon it just hung there making a buzz buzz noise. The camera still worked fine. So I sent it back to DJI for repair. I was astonished when they sent me a bill for a new gimbal and camera. when I inquired as to why I was been billed, they insisted that I got it wet. That was not the case for sure, it was a cold Febuary in Ontario and there was no water anywhere. Nor did I land it in the snow. It was so cold (-20c) that the snow was quite dry. I think that maybe the extreme cold may have been to blame. The representative (Edward) told me that there was a sticker inside that turns red when in contact with water, well I opened the gimbal before I sent it in to make sure something loose that could be easily fixed myself. I didn't notice anything red inside, but I was not looking for that so it may have been there, but it sounds like a fabrication to me. I will check for it when I get it back. Anyway in the end I had to pay the bill to get them to send to send it back. And I was wondering if this was a standard MO for DJI. Or just one bad experience with DJI.

Hi sorry to hear that DJI are normally very good the red sticker I think is under the board , If you keep the quad indoors then go out in to a very cold air temp it can make condensation and this may have shorted the board , also will show as getting wet , We dont have this problem in the UK as its never that cold , If this is what happened your have to find away to reduce the air temp slowly before taking the quad out may be keep it in the boot of your car for a few days before you fly , but not the batteries they dont like the cold , If its -20 out it may be a good idea to get a battery warmer as the lipo work better when not cold

Hi Neil
Thanks so much for replying. I think it is the other way around though with condensation, if you introduce a cold item to the warm air the moisture in the warm room will condensate on a cold surface, like a cold drink from the fridge on a hot and humid day. But I don't think that would have caused a problem in my case, I didn't notice any moisture on the surface of the Phantom when I brought it back in from out side, nor was it powered up when it came back. If by chance this was the problem then it would not bode well for DJI, because everyone in this country would be having problems with their cell phones. Also I have a very expensive SLR camera that I use outside in the cold quite often, and it has never been fried by condensation. But thanks for your input, I will keep my eye on it when I bring it in next next winter.

I agree that there is some potential for condensation but remember I was having the problem with the gimbal not the Phantom it's self. The gimbal is not much different from my SLR camera.

I will check it out when I get it back on Monday, I just think the condensation idea is unlikely, you may not have experienced a cold climate like we get here sometimes, there is no moisture in the air outside, snow when we have it is light and fluffy. That tends to suck the moisture out of the house as well. I find it very difficult to get the humitidy in the house up 50%. At 50% when you touch things in the house (like a door nob or a cat) you get shocks from static.

Ok I live UK so our winter is nothing like yours , if I brought mine in from the cold into a warm house then I may get condensation in it , but as yours is dry cold then you should be ok , sorry can help
