Any suggestions for 500 build

Will do. hope to receive motors this week, ESC's, gimbal, camera and assorted wiring and bits and bolts aren't too far behind. A little over budget so goggles are on the wish list but I do have an Immersion monitor with diversity receiver ordered.

Un boxed the U580 tonight and initial impressions are: Excellent fit and finish, the aluminum motor mounts are a nice touch and come with 2 black and two red. Plastic parts are good quality and should hold up for quite a while. I put it together just as a mock up so I can visualize how everything's going to be mounted, and have one question (for now haha) I haven't put the landing gear on yet and it comes with the motors retracted. I'd like to extend them and mount them but it'll be a while before I get a new receiver and get everything set up. Is there an easy way to get them to extend?

Got am arduino? If they are servo driven you should be able to gently extend them if they have no power on them.

Yes, they are motor driven with a Y harness from both arms to a control module. I thought I could just move them by hand, but they seem to be locked up tight and like my dad always said DON'T FORCE IT!! I'm wondering if I can just put power to the control module and put the signal wire into spare channel 8 on the receiver in my ZMR. Assign channel 8 to a switch on my transmitter and at least I can extend the landing gear. I'll just have to do a little research as I don't now how it works and for manual control, if they work off a 2 position or 3 position switch. Or maybe I could just put the signal into the throttle channel and when I throttle up it will extend them.

You can, it really doesn't have to be a switch channel either. Just turn yuor stick to max or minimum and see if it moves.

The courier and I are now on first name basis. Another item suggested to me here on the forum just arrived, Tarot T4-3D gimbal. Just had a quick look and man, this thing is built like a tank and light as a feather
