Advice please!!

Hey folks,

I was rushing out too the wife’s car earlier too help get the bags out! Now by accident I slipped and peeked through a bag but kept this too myself. To my surprise I spotted “DJI goggles” and being so curious I googled these and I put 2 & 4 together that these belong too a drone? No doubt it’s for myself and not our 2 year old “ well I hope Haa”! Any advice appreciated please do I need too register anything? Licence needed and so on. We Have land so flying when and how often on my property isn’t a problem but is there any grey areas/rules please.

Thank you

What type of flying would you like to do photography/video or acro/freestyle.
I hope it's the first as dji models are not meant for acro. But what a toy, what a wife;) stay below 400' & all OK.
It wouldn't hurt to read the FAA rules on drones. Good luck

Thanks pal! Well we own just over 300acres. It will be for observation around the property which will save getting the quad out from time too time I can send the quad drone out instead! some sunset photographs and so on.

Welcome aboard and..............................SCORE!!!

Was wondering is faa the same as caa! And as I’m in the uk restrictions for height/altitude are these the same as elsewhere in Europe or further afield. 400ft is that plenty for Ariel views

I don't have any idea what the regs are in the UK. As for your question about 400ft. being plenty for aerial views.....here's a couple of mine that were done at about 200 - 250 ft.............

Thanks pal they look great!

And keep in mind that's an inexpensive Syma X8HG with an inexpensive stock 1080p/8mp camera. And I've got ideal flying space.(Sounds like you do also). Even if she got you the economy model(Phantom 3) that is some pretty good gear. One thing though............if this is you're first quad, before you go getting adventurous, I would get a small cheap quad to practice with. The main thing to learn is muscle memory.....controls for a quad are not intuitive and when first learning to fly, it's easy to "lose you mind" and run into stuff. And trees love to hold onto quads.........almost like supper magnets....................

Thanks that’s great advice! I flown a friends Mavic and phantom 4 so a light bulb must have lit up for the wife when she seen I enjoyed it and no doubt it’ll be one off those models

Soz thought you from USA. Yes 400' in UK.
But if you fly over somthing, add that to the height aswell. But be careful. So if your on a hill that's 100' high add another 400' on. But because you are in Manned airspace you need to be careful. This is to my knowledge anyway. Best just not go over the 400' I'm outside the boundary of Speke & john lennon airports. So I'm free as a bird. But I do check the notam's app as there is sea King choppers over the shoreline everyday aswell light Manned aircraft. Who think they can fly below the 500' or do what they want and paragliders. The notam's app is for aircraft. But if the cops show up it's just somthing else to prove on top of what you already doing to be safe.
