A450 Quadcopter Build - Build Thread

Hello,

First lets check out my transmitter and its setting that it offers. I don't see "aero" anywhere in the modes. Here is what options it offers on my FlySky TH9X:

Mode Select
- All I see is "FlySky01"

Type Select
- Heli
- Acro
- Glid

As far as all of the other information you provided me, I believe I got those steps finished

I want to say thank you for taking the time to help me out as well!

Hi mate look at Acro and glider what you need is 4 channels and no mixing of any type so disable any mixing if not you can do heli but must a single servo no mixing
Update go with acro they cant spell aero but that basic plane set up which is what you need the kk will do the work

LOl our messages are getting out of sink , mixing is used on planes with the flaps and helis on pitch throttle , just go basic acro

Lol, they are out of sync but it's alright. Sounds good I will set it to acro and continue finishing up my build when I get home after work today!

I pretty much have everything configured and put together. My last step is to balance and propellers and I should be ready to fly the quad.

Any good DIY methods I should look at to make a homemade prop balancer? Or should I just go buy one from my local hobby shop (it's probably really expensive at my local store)?

Hi mate i seen one made from an old brushless motor, i just got one from e bay , make sure it will take big props

Thanks. I went to the Hobby Store and picked one up for $1o. So I finished balancing my prop. Now onto the next thing:

Upon lifting my quad into the air, my quad drifts to the right automatically. What can I do to solve this issue?

Hi mate have you checked that transmitter channels sub trims are all zero on the FCB if not zero them , and the quad is balanced front to back left to right , if its a kk 2.1.5 there is in set up a trim adjustment to stop a drift on take off, I cant find it may be it was when i was chatting with steveis you may be able to speed up the 2 motors in the side it drifts to in the pi editor , just make a not of setting
One thing they do say is adjust pitch and roll I gain to stop drift so try that first

- I went to "Receiver Test" on my KK2.15 board and the numbers were all crazy. I then went to my "Sub Trim" on my RX and adjusted the numbers until the numbers on the KK2.15 were zero except the AUX.

- The quad is balanced all the way around.

- I will look into speeding up the motors in PI Editor as well as adjust Pitch and Roll gain.

Thank you!

Hi mate if the number were all over the place then that is the problem leave the pi editor for now , now all number are zero but not aux it will fly right trust me

Gotcha. I am in the learning process of flying the quad and one thing I learned is to buy A LOT of propellers. Lol.

Now that I am out of propellers, should I continue to purchase APC propellers or spend more for carbon? I was thinking carbon would have a less chance of breaking for beginners but I could be wrong. What are your opinions?

Hi mate i do use carbon gives a nicer feel to the quad it does not wallow or bounce , Carbon are a bit stronger and take a crash well if you can afford it get 2 sets so you have spares , when learning down time does not help

I am trying to set up auto level on my transmitter. Are these the correct following steps? Transmitter < Settings < Aux-CH < CH 5 < Choose which knob I want to set it too?

Then when I want to use Auto Level on a flight, arm the quadcopter, switch the Auto Level switch on my transmitter, then disarm?

Hi mate auto level comes as default on , you need to go in to kk and tell it you want aux as switch for auto level not sticks , then set up transmitter as you said normally gear switch is used and then that channel goes to AUX on the kk

Got it.

Everything seemed to be configured except one thing. My quad loves to drift straight back. I have done an ACC and ESC calibration. All of my subtrims are at zero. I can't seem to figure out what is causing this.

Edit: Nevermind, I learned how to adjust my trim with the transmitter buttons. Will be going out for a test flight tomorrow!
