$400 to spend, any ideals

Hey GJH. Can you clear up a couple of points? Doesn't the FAA currently "recommend"(require) that for sport flying you fly line of sight? The miles that griz wants to fly go beyond that and, I think, the capabilities of 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz. Don't the frequencies that would be capable of those distances require licensing? Like a HAM Radio license or something like that?

FCC, but you can go a lot further with a LRS.

1.3GHz, 433MHz, 2.5GHz, 5.78GHz, 900MHz, (27MHz 35MHZ 72MHz old, low power systems)

It is not impossible to get 12 miles from 2.4GHz, but most systems are able to get 2-4 miles. With 433MHz it is very possible to get 60 miles.

Going to buy something while I doing a build but what, so much out there. ? come on guys. give me something 150 . oo under .

I might just sell you all my stuff. I was maneuvering a awkward piece of work bench I was making, tripped and knocked over a huge, heavy shelving unit. I crushed all three of my build projects, one of my RTF's, cracked the case on my Futaba Tx and generally destroyed my toy room. CRAP!!!! This all happened about 15 minutes ago. Anyway. I'm not selling my stuff(junk?). I AM going to drink and then I'll figure out what to do tomorrow.

Back to your question. Get one of these, a FPV RX and monitor. Bind it to your radio and go practice. This is one of my dead soldiers. I only flew it once and loved it. It has most of the whistles and bells you wanted on the Big DOG so you'll be able to get familiar with those features. BTW. I thought you ordered a V666 to play with?

urgh, commiserations mate, hate stuff like that.

Just view it as an excuse to go out and get bigger better gear

Sorry. I forgot my manners. I appreciate the thought. I'll quit being a big baby soon. Looks like I can salvage motors and most other electronics, some props. Frames, a FPV camera, a Naza controller appear to be toast. A couple other items have cracks and scratches. I'll have to test them and see if they can be used again. Well, I wanted to change the room layout anyway.......... Once again I picked the hard way:(

Hey, man. Thanks. I appreciate it, but not necessary. I have been at it all day. Most of the cost to me was in the labor I put in. Not the money. The frames were destroyed but the motors and other important things are mostly ok. Probably less than $250.00 in damage to some fpv and radio gear. Broke some retracts for example. It mostly just pisses me off. I wanted to change some designs anyway so here's my chance. A silver lining I guess. If there was a good time for this it was now. I'm heading out on a couple of bike trips in August and then I'll be gone on another one from early September to the first week in October. I wouldn't have had much quad time anyway. I'll think about what I want to build while I'm riding and order the materials when I get back. Thanks again. It is actually gonna work out fine.;)

Ha! The Quanum Nova I ordered was just delivered. Now I have a incentive to clean up the rest of the mess. Find my chargers. Charge a couple batteries and go play!

Ouch, that would be several hours of work down the drain, I guess the moral is that you need a safe to store stuff in haha.

This is a post I won't remember posting :s.
Hahaha why not?

Because I didn't post that post that said this is a post I won't remember posting:s. That wasn't me. Serious question; can someone hack into another persons posts? I really, really did not post that! I went out for a few hours to run some errands 2 minutes after I wrote about getting the Nova in the mail. This is not cool.

Just read your post about not sending that post . I would have some concerns about security on my computer . Might be time to up date security programs. Your right , not cool .

Agreed. So, what quad did you order to play with? I'm still pushing for you to get something BNF so you can use your radio and become familiar with it. You'll be flying a big expensive multi and you don't want to be staring at your Tx wondering what switch to hit next. You want to be able to fly without having to look at what your hands are doing.

I did order v666, just looks like fun, The two I had before were just hand size . I will need the practice on the tx .
