I made an attempt today. 25mw. Didn't get very far. Only about 700 ft before breakup. Although it did give me a good test of GPS rescue. It's working.. Thank goodness lol. So I switched to a skew planar antenna to see if that would garner more range but it was actually less. So I think I have an issue with the antenna on the craft. Also I was flying low. Once I hit gps rescue and I shot up to 100 feet, the video popped wright back in. So Height helped.
I got about 500 feet away with the planar antenna. So like 200 feet less. This tells me the helical is working. I am going to get a new antenna for the craft and then re-test. I should be able to get at least 1-2 miles on 25mw.
