Excellent story. And an awesome tower. My father was in the army in Germany. I actually spent my first year of life there on base.

An "Army Brat", OUTSTANDING! Where about was your Father stationed? If you can remember at one year old haha.

I was mostly at the McNair Kaserne outside Frankfurt and spend some time on the Fulda Gap. But that was a few years earlier ahemmmmm

Very sorry for your loss.

And Thank You, I appreciate that and accept that on behalf of all who served and are serving now.

I spent 3 months TDY near Fulda at Wassakupe another Air Force base. It was a radar facility. Just another target for the russkies coming across the Fulda Gap We used to watch across the 5K zone with big binoculars at the East German guards patrolling. Trying to give them the finger haha.

It was beautiful area. Gliders were a big thing there and still are today. Got to soar the skies a few times.
