Tuesday. Night ops with my Ni Hui. First flight it got away from me a bit, went in the trees, no damage. Second flight was great, nice and smooth.
I love how this thing lights up. Looking forward to winter flying under full moon.
This unit tends to have elevator problems; i.e., it...
Monday. Second time flying the UDI. Went back to the same place. Again, first flight was rough--kept drifting right--, second much better. I think the one battery might be a problem. at one point I was almost at a true hover, unit flying and not moving at all! more pix too.
I want to try this thread. Post your flight info. Enlighten us with what you learn. Entertain us with your adventures. Amuse us with your 'Oh S***' moments.
I'll start. Sunday; tried out new location mentioned in this
http://quadcopterforum.com/threads/lets-discuss-launch-sites.6180/...
I found one last week while hiking. Public hunting area. Field the size of a football field, surrounded by trees (cut down the wind), no houses, no wires, mostly open ground.
first pic is ground level, other is from unit (UDI HD+)
perfect morning; clear as a bell and no wind (at least not at first.)
new launch site. details here

Syma X5C is a great starter unit, easy to operate, has camera, good price.
I'd recommend buying in-country from someone with the item in stock instead of Chinese drop-ship.
you mention pounds so I guess you're in the UK. check UK Amazon.
I'd suggest one with one-button-return function. very easy to lose one up high.
I suspect you've done more of this than I so I hope I'm not stating the obvious.
I don't have a local supplier so it's all online. Amazon and Gearbest. no more drop-ship from China for me.
I would prefer local supplier, even paying more.
sorry to hear.
I ordered one unit drop shipped and never received (got refund). never again, I will only go wi in-country suppliers wi merchandise in stock.
probly not. I'm thinking this stuff is mass-marketed in prepackaged packages.
I have a Syma X5 in a tree in my back yard that I can't get to.
I just ordered an Udi with a one-button return function.
hope you can track it down. I lost a WL in the brush and found it a week later.
I'm no expert but I think it's a 'headless' type which means all directions same speed.
you can always try removing and re-inserting the batteries, that might reset something.
make sure there's no debris/dirt in the little motor gimbal things.
good luck, keep us posted.
apparently any camera wi the card stores pictures.
I ended up ordering a UDI 818A HD, which seems to have camera, plug-in motors, and return feature.
I have a NiHui for night ops but I really want the camera option, I guess so I'll have something to show for the flights.
ended up getting a UDI 818A HD. seems to have all the features I want.
$99 on Amazon. got spare parts too (free shipping!)
they have a non-HD version cheaper. the HD has the return function and a few other goodies.
