SG906 Max 1 won't fly in mode 1

I can't get my sg906 to lift off in mode 1. Mode 2 works perfectly.
I have carefully followed the instructions on how to activate mode 1.
My controller also has a slide switch that is marked GPS on/off.
My controller says it's in mode 1.
My HFunPro app says it's in mode 1.
I am doing this indoors so I have 0 GPS satellites.
When I activate the motors I get a warning message on the app that we are not in GPS mode and cautions about missing functions.
I reply to the message.
When I advance the throttle nothing happens.
I have tried using the video button to enter mode 1 as well.
Am I missing something?
Any ideas?
 
According to the You-tube videos on flying your drone on Mode 1, after Mode 1 is switched on, you have to press the VIDEO button until you hear a long beep. Then you can start flying.
Did you do that?

The next step is to press the Left stick down at 5 o'clock position and Right stick down at 7 o'clock position.
That will set the propellers spinning.
Then use the Left stick to launch the drone.
Does that work for you?
