SJRC F11 flight anomaly

I finally had an opportunity a couple of weeks ago to fly my new SJRC F11 in an open area and it went fairly well, except for one issue: I had it hovering about 10 feet in the air and started to move it forward. I was walking behind it as it flew and it went about 20 feet or so, then it started to rapidly move backwards about 30 feet. I regained control and brought it back to where I was standing, but it seemed like every time I would get it about 5-10 feet in front of me it would reverse that same 30 feet or so.

Am I supposed to just stand in one position and let this thing fly away from me, relying on the image on my phone to monitor its flight, or can I move around while the bird is flying to keep my eyes on it?

I tthink I may have this figured out: reading the manual it says that the default setting is "Beginner Mode" and that limits the flight distanc to about 30 meters, so if I try to walk it around, and it ends up at that limit it will automatically return to home. So I'll try turning off Beginner Mode, or try the Follow Me mode and see what happens!

Alan,

I was looking at buying an F11 and since you were a beginner like me when you bought it I would love to hear your thoughts and experience with it.

It is an easy quad to fly for a beginner - I spent a few hours in my back yard getting used to it. We live less than 5 miles from a general aviation airport so I called them and they said so long as I kept it a rooftop height or less I was good. We are in a standard size suburban California lot so I don't have a lot of room but I am able to maneuver it around, get it high enough to check our solar panels on the roof, etc. I tried flying it in headless mode once, and that was the only time I ever ran it into the side of the house! I haven't had much opportunity to fly it recently but I still think it's a great little machine!

Alan,

I just got my F11 pro and I have an issue with charging my remote. The green led turns when charging. Then the app tells me I have low remote battery and the white power light flashes.

Does your white light stay on steady when operating? I am worried ill crash the drone on its first flight if the remote dies.

Thanks

I haven't flown it for a while now, and honestly can't tell you what the LED does off-hand. But if the drone loses contact with the remote it is supposed to automatically return to home so unless there is an obstacle in its way it should not crash...
