Anyone have an MJX B4W drone?

After looking at quite a few and watching Youtube videos this seems like the best low cost drone for the money to me. Does anyone have one so they can say what they think? Or would anyone like to suggest something they think is a better choice for that price range (~ $160 US) ?

Thank you for any reply!

I am not going to comment on its pros and cons.
I just want to remind you that B4W is a 5G image transmission drone. You need a cellphone that supports 5G, otherwise don't even consider it.

I thank you for mentioning it, though I don't understand what it means. Whatever it means my phone probably doesn't if some phones don't because mine is an older model. I did notice that most if not all of the drones I was looking at said something about 5G though, so does that mean a lot of phones won't work with any of them?

I myself is a newbie. I started this hobby only 4+ months ago.
I'll try to explain in laymen terms.
A video wifi drone has a camera which will transmit instant imaage to a receiver (a cellphone in this case).
The frequencies used are usually either 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz.
Most cellphones support 2.4 ghz wifi transmission. They won't work with a 5 ghz wifi drone.

If you want more detailed info, please kindly wait for a pro in this field to explain to you.

I have Sjrc Z5 GPS 2.4g Wifi drone. It looks pretty much like your B4W. It is cheaper because it is an older model vs B4W a newer one.
It has all the bells and whistles one wants.
Since you are in US, here is a link to eBay.com on Sjrc Z5.........

SJRC Z5

Please note : This drone has 2 versions. 2.4g and 5g Wifi. Make sure you select 1080p 2.4g

Here is one of many Z5 reviews. You can google more from the internet.

2.4 is wifi, 5.8 is analog. I don't believe there are any phones that will accept an analog signal, you'll need a 5.8GHz reciever.

There is a 5.8 reciever that will plug into your phone, there are also fpv screens and I prefer goggles.

I was talking about 2.4ghz and 5 ghz wifi.
Never was a 5.8 analog mentioned in my replies.

I think people get confused sometimes between 5G and 5ghz. 5G is just the abbreviation of Fifth Generation wifi protocol 802.11ac on the 5ghz band

You are right.
But for lesser informed people such as myself, they are the same.
My cellphone cannot accept 5ghz transmission. So, when I look for a drone and see one with 5G specified, I know it's not for me, and I will move on.

Thank you and all of you for your explanations. Does it have a slot so you can use an SD card to record video with the drone itself? Also how stable or unstable is the video quality? I guess it's not nearly as smooth as a DJI. I have a Phantom 3 Advanced that I might try selling and buying a Mavic Air. I wanted a Phantom for years and finally was able to get one, and love the video quality being so rock solid. But that drone turns out to be larger than is practical for me especially if I go anywhere on a plane, so I'd like to go the other direction and get something that will fold down small and be easier to carry around. If anyone has any advice on the best way to make a swap--and I guess I'll have to pay a few extra $$$ as well--I would appreciate any suggestions.

Re : Does it have a slot so you can use an SD card to record video with the drone itself?

Yes. The sd card slot is at the right side of the camera. The camera is a separate part that is removable.
The camera position can be adjusted up and down by the remote controller.
It does not have "gimbal" to steady the camera. Don't expect it taking pictures the way remotely like a DJI Phantom.
They are of different class. There is no comparison.

You can put that Z5 in your jacket pocket.

Thank you for your help. Thanks to all of you! I just ordered one here:

After much thinking about it and trying to understand my own position I believe it comes down to wanting something that will fold up more than anything, to play with as a toy. Already having a Phantom that is rock solid and can go a farther distance it's probably best from my position to keep that and buy a cheap middle of the road foldable drone to play with. And maybe it will produce some still shots that are worth keeping. Maybe even some decent video on nice calm days? Do you have any specific suggestions or advice about this particular drone (hoping I ordered the correct version)? Also would it be okay to pm you with other specific questions after it arrives, and/or would it be better to keep them public on this or a new thread in case it could help other people in the future?

Thanks again!
David

This Z5 is a rock solid GPS drone. It can handle moderate windy day. On a calm day, you can leave it in mid air and go take a nap. It will still be where you left it.
As I mentioned before, I am no better than a novice drone enthusiast. Not qualified to offer advice.
Under the same reasoning, It would be best to your benefits to ask questions in public. I'll do my best to assist you based on my personal experience with the Z5 drone.

Yes. In my opinion, it would be best to start a new thread for questions after you have your Z5.

RE : hoping I ordered the correct version
From Amazon.ca.........Copy of a customer asking about how to know if the Z5 is a 5G or 2.4g drone.
Answer : If 5ghz it will have 5g listed on the bottom of the camera of the drone. If 2.4ghz it will list 1080p.

Mine, a 2.4ghz drone, has1080p listed at the bottom of the camera. See screenshot below.

For the money....the Sjrc Z5 is hard to beat, impressed with the still shots
I agree absolutely. I'm having trouble with video though. It says to use a TF card but I've been told a micro SD card works fine which it did for me the first time I tried an ADATA 64GB card. But the next time it appeared to have created a video but the computer said it didn't support that type of program even though it's the same as the one it played fine the day before on that same card. Tried it in a different computer with similar problems. So far I haven't been able to find how it wants to be formatted or restrictions on the size card that can be used. I didn't see it in the manual. Can you give me an idea what I'm doing wrong?

Just a suggestion. No guarantees : reformat the sd card.
Warning..... reformat will remove everything saved on the card. Make sure you save what ever you want to save first.

Insert the card to your computer > (assuming you use Windows 10) > open File Explorer > select This PC > right click at the sd card drive > click Format > at File System, select Fat32 > click Format > click Start.

When done, try the sd card on Z5 again.
