First build issues

You may also want to try out just spinning up the motors and controlling through the motors tab (props off to save your face) to narrow it in on being an issue just with the receiver or transmitter but it sounds like that's the problem.

Depending on the receiver protocol you can get a relatively cheap DSO oscilloscope that can capture the signal so you can see if it looks right for yourself but anything aside from simple PWM or PPM signals will be harder to just eyeball since digital encoded signals require decoding (I used a cheap one when working on a remote and receiver using PWM signalling to an ESC)

Also would dig into what dugdog posted sounds relevant.

Thanks gents. My gut feeling is the receiver, it is clone and I’ve had a couple of issues with it, it’s supposed to run SBUS IBUS and PPM but I can only get it to run PPM, I have checked the connections inside the controller as I had to remove the spring to stop the left stick fro returning to centre (I followed the painless 360 video on YouTube) double checked them when I first had the problem so it seems the receiver is the obvious weak link I’ve ordered the genuine FS-A8S so hopefully this will solve the problem. I’ll keep you updated, but no doubt I’ll be back with something else I need help with.

Very happy with the FS- X6B. I have connected it through I Bus and when looking at it through BetaFlight there is a massive improvement, the channel values are stable and straight from the off were set at 1000 1500 and 2000. I’ve also been able to set up the failsafe properly ( initially I assumed it was just something I was doing wrong)
The only slight niggle I have is I had to make the mounting holes bigger so they would fit on my posts which has damaged the led, but this seem to be a normal thing and hasn’t effected the RX. I have a weeks holiday this week so hopefully will get my test hover and maiden flight done this week. And then fit the camera and VTX.

Update
Reason my quad went stupid was because one of the motors is dodgy, I have contacted the seller and a replacement is being sent out. I’m pretty sure everything is setup correctly now, and until the new motor is received there is not a lot I can do except set up the video. I’m going to start a new thread but will link it here. For new builders

Thought I’d better do an update ! I never did the other thread as I hooked up the video first time and it all works. I met up with a few local guys and have flown my quad. I bought a second hand pair of Fatshark HD3s and have so far had about 90 minutes flight time. Thanks for all your help

If you record any of your flight videos and upload them to youtube you can post your videos here, we love flight videos!

I don’t have much decent footage, I have about 2 hours of drone comedy and about 10mins of the bottom of a very large tree, but I will be uploading to YouTube once I get my head around it all a bit. Going for a rip tomorrow evening with a friend who is new to the hobby, we are going one at a time and spotting for each other.

Awesome great to hear you've got people to fly with too, always way more comfortable if I have a spotter also can play off each other in learning things. Also would say get a sim setup if you haven't already, real flight time is key but can crash a million times in the sim while trying out new tricks instead of spending time rebuilding (have to balance with getting out when it's decent too though)
