A nice calm rip session

Nice skies, wish I could trust my gear over water this much or at all right now :). Just finished ripping apart my quad and redoing my power wiring and stand-offs so I'm hoping that fixes my gyros spiraling out of control but have to wait till tomorrow to really go test it out (worst case scenario guess I'm getting a new FC and ESCs but hoping something I did magically resolved my issue).

Hey wafflejock! Have you checked to see if there are any grounding issues? I used double sided tape under my ESC's and PDB but is was VERY thin. Edges of the ESC touched the carbon frame and I kept browning out. I would cycle power in mid flight until I replaced all the tape with thicker product.

Thanks yah I just ripped everything apart it needed a deep cleaning anyway and replaced the main power lead that had been battered by props a couple of times. Basically tightened things up

Only got to take it out on a short test flight but blackbox logging looks a lot better now thanks for the tip too though will look out for that really need to just get some proper sized nylon standoffs.

Pretty sure root cause of my issue was just loose FC because gyro and motors were diverging and oscillating a lot before I tightened things up. Boards in stack may also be heating each other excessively but better sized standoffs for the frame will help I'm sure.

Meh well that semi fixed the issues.... it was flying a lot better, but still occasionally getting something dropping out in the front right of the quad so I'm suspect of ESCs or some crappy connection for signal to the FC or things overheating because the runcam board and FC are smashed right up on each other. I decided screw it I'm just going to replace everything since I don't know what the problem is and I've been using this setup for about 2 years just replacing ESCs and upgrading motors as things broke but figure time to refresh the FC PDB and ESCs in one go to bring it back to life (also hopefully better sized stand offs to space the boards more evenly in the small space I have here). Not the cheapest way to go but hopefully will save me from having to rebuild a third time this month.

Also tried bumping firmware from 3.3.3 to 4.0.3 but receiver input wasn't working there (tried a few times) went back to 3.4 and receiver is working fine there so not sure what breaks it in between but figured just replace FC it's old and doesn't support LEDs anyway :D

Oh also also I have mangled my Spektrum DX6i beyond repair while adding a rechargable lipo and charge circuit to it (I tried re-using the main power switch but fried something on it). The DX6i still sort of works but I can barely trust it at this point and decided to order the Jumper T16 as well since it'll run OpenTX and has a radio for connecting to nearly everything under the sun (and can be swapped which is nice).

One positive I added a 5V regulator in my HDOs and a regular switch in place of the momentary one so just use the barrel to power the fan in there now since the balance plug from the battery had broken the fan was dead.

I fly a camera drone. When you FPV fliers say "nice calm" I get a little suspicious
