My First build, got it together, hook up to betaflight, firmware flashed easy, reciever bound with transmitter, everything going smooth as silk, then, nothing.
When in reciever tab in betaflight, the bar graphs move when I move the controls, the motors all spin up in betaflight, but try to work the quad with controller, nothing.
Also, I had to remap the motors, but when looking at the quad avatar in betaflight, the head is quarter turned from where it should be. Looks like when I remapped motors, the motors moved to right place but the avatar shows it quarter turned still. So when I move the quad forward or backward, it shows it moving left or right. HELP. What's going on?
Also, on the front page of betaflight where you calibrate the accelerometer, the magnetometer isn't highlighted so I can calibrate it.

Details of your setup please. What flight controller, transmitter and receiver. Also screenshot of your Betaflight ports, configuration and receiver tabs.

BTW you don't have a magnetometer, hence the icon not lit up. Magnetometer (compass) is part of a GPS unit.

Now as for the wacky display of your quad looking like it's turned a quarter of where it should be, look at the top of your flight controller and you'll see an arrow. This an orientation arrow and should be pointing forward. My guess is that you've got your flight controller mounted incorrectly, rotated 90 degrees left or right.

Remap those motors back to how they were! You're just asking for a whole bunch of confusion. You'll just need to compensate with a setting in Betaflight if necessary

Flight controller is Lumenier alpha f4 . transmitter is Taranis qx7s, reciever is frsky xm+. I have no idea how to take a screen shot.
As for turning the fc board back a quarter turn, that won't work. That would put the battery lead inside the frame. Also, wouldn't be able to get to the usb port.

Have you set up your modes tab & radio switches?
I agree with undoing the re-mapping. Board alignment is on the config tab though. The same tab has the mag slider to enable if your has it.

I saw that in the configuration and adjusted it -90 degrees and now it's perfect. Modes tab and radio switches in betaflight, or on the transmitter?

Modes set up to aux switches (arm, angle, etc...) in BF. Switches enabled on the radio Tx.
For me, aux1 is arm on Sw5 on my radio. Angle, horizon, and acro are aux2 and Sw6

Was just trying to do that. Was watching a video on that but even though the person doing the video has the same transmitter, it doesn't work the way he shows it working. I think he has an older radio. I can't get it to do anything. Set it up stepby step along with video, but the switch I set doesn't do anything when I try to setrange.

ok, been gone a week, just getting another chance to do this.
Check this tutorial by PBF. He was the best at explaining things in a straight forward easy to understand manner

ok, been gone a week just getting a chance to work on this again. I watched that video, but it still doesn't work. I assigned the arm switch to the sh button on channel 5 but it's like I never did anything. go into beta flight to adjust the range but there is no response, like I never assigned the channel. don't get it. followed the video step by step and nothing.
can't believe the company doesn't have anything on their websight, no instructions at all. how did anybody ever learn to use this thing? maybe the brand new radio is just junk?

also, in the video, he states that it's not necessary to even assign a switch to arm it, it can be done with a combination of stick movements. couldn't find that info on the manu. web sight or anywhere on the internet.

ok, finally figured it out. nobody in the 30 or so videos ever bothered to mention the fact that you cannot use the sh button to arm with. youtube vids are bs waste of time. they always leave out important info, like this. found the answer in an obscure article online.
now I have another problem. when I try to fly, it just flips over no matter what controls I use. throttle, flips, any other besides yaw, same thing, just flips over.

Flips can happen from bad config or prop direction, sounds like if you just throttle it hovers which eliminates flips from wrong motor direction or flipped props. Would check in the 3d view in betaflight that the model tilts the correct direction when titling the physical model. Regarding controls verify everything is correct with regard to stick mapping for throttle, yaw, ailerons, and elevator. Also what flight mode are you using? Nothing set is acro/rate mode, if you setup modes for angle or horizon let us know. Regarding transmitter setup it's difficult to cover all the options out there and they are usable with many different flight controllers so it's near impossible to cover all the combinations (the dx6i I have apparently comes in at least 3 variants depending on mfg date and region)

Dude there are literally millions of different variables going on in any given build. You can't possibly expect a couple videos to cover EVERYTHING lol .

However you did find the answer, it only takes a little digging.

Happy flying bro!!!
