How do I assign switches to LEDs, Lost Buzzers, etc?

Ive been through countless videos, Josh Bardwell even replied to help me out, but I think I'm losing my mind.

DX6, x220 ARF, Spektum Receiver

I have ZERO clue out to assign channels, or whatever it would be called to make Switch F be the Lost Buzzer, am I saying this correctly? I don't know how else to phrase it, nothing I can find online is jiving or making sense to me, please if someone can point me in the right direction

I have soldered the receiver on, I soldered the VBAT up and will be soldering on the Bzzer today but I cannot for the life of me figure this out anyone please
 
The buzzer is in the modes tab of whatever program you use. Like when you setup your angle, horizon & acro or airmode. You just assign it to a free switch. Sorry but with leds mine are just hooked upto the 12v out on my pdb, there is a switch I can just turn them on & off.

Do you have a Spektrum DX6?
 
Assign the auxiliary switches in the Tx.
OK so presuming you have more than a 6 channel radio & free switches.
In modes tab In clean or betaflight click on the buzzer change it to the auxiliary swith, then set the range. Then on your Tx go to auxiliary channels and set it too whatever switch or dial you want.
My modes switch is the 3 position swc
Angle /horizon/acro and swd is my arm switch. I only Ave a 6 channel Tx. I did upgrade it but thought it didn't work.
So I changed it back. But now know extra channels are only through ibus. But now can't recreate it. But 6 does me. My lost alarm are my esc's. So 6 channels is minimum but you ain't got the buzzer.
Unless you only fly acro. And don't pick any flight mode. Then rate mode is default. I think don't quote me on that.
 
Elavonis channel 1
Aileron is channel 2
Throttle is channel 3
Rudder is channel 4
Auxiliary channel 1 can be arm, but applied to any switch same with auxiliary 2 & 3. Just don't forget to set them in cleanflight & on the Tx. So if you select buzzer in CF or BF set the little box to auxiliary 3 then go to your Tx, in settings set auxiliary 3 as switch swa for example. Sorry bad @ explaining but it makes sense to me.

I believe for a Spectrum RX default is TAER.

They can be reassigned in the TX in the RX port Assignments -> Channel assign. That is also where you will assign your Gear and Aux to switches.

Flip ahead to ~2m 20s.


Note the Gear is probably where you might want the 3 way switch (for modes). You will need to for into the FC's software and check how it's been set up.

Dumb question, can I only play with 6 channels because it's a dx "6"?

As in if I get the dx 20 I have 20 channels meaning a ton more options? And yes granted all of that is supported but am I just limited to 6?

And if so, why all the other switches?

I'm very thankful for your help btw.

Yes I think so. You maybe able to upgrade the firmware & get extra channels through ibus or sbus. That is why all the switches. If your Tx & RX support that. Or like I said don't select any flight modes in the modes tab. You can have the buzzer but you have to fly in rate/acro mode only. Which I would suggest anyway.
 
I just noticed the pic of your rx 6 channels only & no sbus or ibus. You could look up an ibus rx for your Tx. If I get time today I will have a look see what there is.
 
There are loads of 6+channels rx out there start around 30+ bucks. You don't really need ibus but it is better
 
Looks like no ibus or sbus for spectrum receivers. Far as I can tell. But the AR8000 is an 8 channel rx. It's only 10 bucks. But you may have to upgrade the Tx. Maybe someone who is a bit more spectrum savvy may know.
I want the turnigy evolution but not many about here in the UK. They all overpriced because of demand.

Hey thank you, I'm going to try to find a bunch of spektrum only users, see what they say but what you said makes sense.

I don't know much about the ibus or sbus connections, I had to solder my receiver to the board, it's serial, I hear serial is a better connection?
 
I even tried having the beeper on the arm switch in position 1 & armed on position 2, but it no work. Esc beeper s work well. They been tweaked now so can turn the volume up without harming the motors. If the battery goes its all silent anyway so although beeper is louder don't sweat over it. You can change the time the beeper starts on idle. Beeps or chirps. Even though I fly in close by fields in Country side with birds all over the shop the chirp is very noticeable more so than the beeps. Stick with the DX6 for now use esc's beep then if you get into the hobby invest in the turnigy evolution it has all you need.

Yes it is. All channels through 1 wire like ppm sbus ibus. I looked at the picture of your rx it only looks like analogue. As in one wire for each channel. Good luck.
I use this site & RC group for any problems I encounter & always get sorted out.
 
Less wires is one benefit but latency is the biggest factor in using sBus. PWM is super slow but even the difference between PPM and sBus is substantial. sBus has a total looptime processing of about 27 ms whereas PPM is up around 80 ms. Doesn't sound like much but if you do the math, 50 loops at 60 mph works out to about 5 feet! sBus also gives you much better stick resolution and handling of error.
