My Parrot A R Drone

I happenedon this quadcopter whilst surfing looking for r/c helicopters, I've bee quite unsuccsesfully 'flying' various electric helicopters over the past few years most proving difficult or impossible to fly and with minimal battery fly time.
I bought the Parrot drone and have been impressed with it's capabilities and wi-fi control method I use a Samsung Tab 2.0 7" tablet that I finf to be perfect for the job. I have found a brilliant supplier of parts in Europe (Germany) www. droneparts.de usually they gert orders to me in the UK within 5 days. Orders I have placed in the USA have all been sent with USPS and I have not received any of them, I have received refunds from the vendors. So, what upgrades have I done?
1, Rotor shaft bearings, replacing the copper bushings.
2. Upgrade batteries to 3200mah (drone parts exclusive same size as originals but eith LiPol sic point connectors included for lights etc.
3.Carbon Fibre base.
4. Angel Eyes LED white base lights
5. Centralised power on/off switch
Blue strobing rear light
LED front camera light
Landing gear protection pods.
I've also bought flashinh police style lights but I'll bre attaching them to my 3 foot patrol boat, conveted to Police fast patrol boat.
LiPol charger/checker
drone parts travel case for the Parrot drone( fitted to hold it perfectly together with a few battery recesses and a large recess for other parts such as spare rotor blades.

Nice! Do you have a picture of it? What kind of flight time do you get with it?
Just processing a video fot You Tube, I'll put a link up when uploaded. I'm also working on a 'Police fast patrol boat, I've got the flashing lights ant have just purchased a model siren on ebay the listing video looks cool I'll do a video of the boat too. I'm a bit slow at doing things because I'm disabled by strokes and cam onluy use one hand and walking is difficult too. sometimes my keyboarding is very bad with loads of spelling mistakes :-)

I get about 20 minutes with the uprated li-pol but I'm trying to run 2 in parallel to increase the fliht time dramatically but wiring although in theory simple is proving difficult for me ie _ to + and - to - but I'll get there don't fancy shorting out 2 powerful li-pols at close range. :-(

The boat sounds really cool! I can't wait to see.

20 mintues is a lot of flight time! I normally need a break after 5-7 minutes with my quadcopter. I need to develop more concentration or something.

How many cells are the batteries you're running? Have you throught about going with more cells rather than running the batteries in parallel?

My largest battery has eight cells but is difficult to accommodate within the hull. I have to leave the top off and place the battery over the battery compartment secured with the Velcro.
With 2 batteries in parallel I could have one in the battery compartment and the other in the rear well in the base. I might be able to do I with rewired li-pol connectors but need to be very carefull I've beeb told red to red and black to black but need reassurance on this because exploding batteries would be very dangerous. I charge my batteries using a digital unit with the little white connectors(don't know what they are called). www.droneparts.de do nice upgraded batteries 2000mah with the additional white connectors for charging or adding lights etc. They have loads of cool stuff including their own twist on the drone called the Phantom it looks great but is more expensive than the AR Drone.

Re flight time & concentration I used to do radio controlled helicopters and made a platform for the transmitter that hangs around my neck and clips onto my belt the swivel clip allows me to ue the accelerometer for control. If I get tired I just do hands off and let it hover.

Yeah, I would think red to red and black to black should work. This may help:

You should definitely check a few places to verify though. You definitely don't want to short a battery that big. I think you also need to wire up the balance charger connector in parallel as well.

That platform sounds pretty cool. I use a lanyard to hold my tx, but one time I let it hang and the throttle stick nudged against my shirt and went full on!

No problem. Where did you get that charger? I might be interested in buying something like that, rather than having to plug in multiple chargers. Right now, I have chargers laying around everywhere.

I found it on ebay (UK) in your money about $60.00 Regs Rog
