Help! I some how severed one of the 2 receiver antennas. Is That Bad?

it ripped it right from the board. I don't even know what happened. Just grabbed it from my desk and it was gone. Never crashed. It's the FS I6 controller setup.

Wrong one. This.

Hahaha, it is a common problem for freestyle and racing, store your antenna in a little straw that is fixed to the craft.

Okay I put them up on zip ties but somehow some where it got ripped from the board. I still have connection to it from the one antenna. Will that just equate to shorter range?

Am I going to be better off just ordering another receiver? The new receiver just pairs with the controller I already got?

Most people just solder new ones one, but which ever is easier for you.

am I able to still fly it or will I loose connect to the transmitter? right now it doesn't seem affected but i'm not flying it. LOL will the distance just be shortened? i'm going to buy a new receiver but could will I still get decent distance if I fly it this weekend on one antenna?

I would think it will have an effect on preformance, I doubt it is a "backup", if you can get your hands on a piece of coax like the antenna, cut it to the proper length, this is very important, expose the proper length of inner wire, also very important, then solder the other end to the board. Be sure to do a ground range check before flying.

Have a friend help test the range. Remove the props, hand him or her the quad, call them on the phone, and have them walk down the road.

I would not fly without at the very least reheating the solder ad you may have cracked joints. Also may have dead spots, or if the antenna is completely gone you could actually mess up the receiver.

I'm glad I saw this post, just realized that the iA6's cardboard enclosure with the open back adds no support/stress relief to the solder joints. I added a dab of hot glue to the joints/area. I suggest you do the same if you replace yours. Actually anyone using the iA6 should.

The Lemon featherweight suffers from the same problem.

yeah i'll add the hot glue to it. I bought another one so I just have to wait the 3 to 4 days for it to come. I'm pissed that I don't get to fly though. I 've had my quad for 2 weeks and have only had the chance to fly twice.

We see the larger, heavier PPM RX should fare better. It also has better range.

But would be a bear to adapt to your setup.
