What to buy? No idea where to begin...

Okay, so a couple months ago I splurged on an AR Drone because of sheer interest in drones and how cool they were beginning to look. After those few months of flying I've decided I definitely want something more - way more. I have been watching videos since then as well, and I came across those FPV Racing vids - rad looking stuff right? Then I found this site and watched some more videos and have just been overwhelmed by the possibilities of drones ever since. At first I just wanted battery life and range, then FPV and speed, and then finally programming-ability for true open-endedness.

So pretending there is no limit to the amount of money being used, for the least amount of money, how can one get this kind of speed and maneuverability:

this kind of range:

and this kind of programming-ability:

and if at all possible a reasonable to excellent battery life.

Get 2.... One for speed, and another one for AP :)

I would start out with a smaller, and faster quad since it will be the most cheapest, and you would learn how to fly well before purchasing a larger more expensive quad.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention the same day I bought a little mini one as well the same day I got the AR drone for that exact purpose - learning to fly with speed. It is a Quark Micro Drone. Although small the little thing is quick, not as quick as any of the racing ones but quick enough.

What is AP?

I second ringalongs suggestion. Graupner, for example, has a really nice little RTF 250 package that has a great reputation for being pretty quick and very rugged. Very "tweekable" for even more performance. The speed from these little guys compared to your AR is night and day. For high altitude, longer flight times, decent speed and stability for video a larger 400 to 500 quad is something to look into. There are numerous videos of quads that size doing 60+mph for about 15 minutes or flying high, slower and stable for 30+minutes.
Another plus with the Graupner RTF is you just need to buy one of their Rx/Flight Controller all in one combos for your larger quad and then use the same Tx. Economic and convenient.
So many quads. So little time........

Are you talking about this one? Lol German site, the translation of the descriptions is interesting.

It's the only RTF one I found on their site.

What other ones are you talking about for 400 to 500?
