WiFi extender help

Hi there,

I'm just getting into this as a hobby and have bought my first quad, a JJRC H68 along side a 'xiaomi repeater 2' to try get some extra range.

I have read that some people have issues getting these to connect and that you have to select mainland China, India etc. As youre region in order to get them to work sometimes. I have tried a fair few things but havent had any luck.

The quad has no password and no encryption on its WiFi and I'm unsure if I can alter any of these settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone has had any luck with these previously.

Yeah, I have done all that to the letter, during the connection section it tells me to move closer to the router even though I am right next to it.

After some research a few sources also state that the repeater isn't fond of networks without passwords

The latest version of the configuration app requires that the WiFi signal has a password. You may download the older 4.3.0 version without password requirement shown in the above video here https://www.androidapksfree.com/devapk/xiaomi-inc/mihome/
