who can design this?

I am curious if the technology is there to build a copter that can do this:

Take off commanded from internet connection. (no one there to fly it or turn it on)

Control remotely through internet connection.
OR
Have it follow a set of way points

land in the same place it took off from....
And I mean by this, that it like would take off out of a 3foot by 2foot box and then land right back in the same place..

Obviously, I am talking about something that would be totally custom and doesn't exist commercially as far as I can tell. I have a QX360 that is really fun to fly but I am wondering if there is someone out there that can design custom stuff.

Note: Of course I would like to know if there is a commercial version of what I am talking about that i have missed.

It is very possible, you can have a laptop tell the copter what to do, so either have a laptop ground station, or put it on the quad. You'd use a Rasbery Pi (or a computer) to tell a modified transmitter to send the signals. You could also incorporate a charging doc in the ground station that would have physical power or maybe even battery over solar. The problem can come from legalities of doing this or in the even of a crash there would bwe nobody nearby to deal with this. But with this theory you could control copter in Britain from China.

Thanks for the quick response. I have looked up this Raspberry Pi. Looks like it is some sort of way to build a small computer. You defiantly have the right idea. I will be interested to see what else we can come up with on this one. Seem like to me that their is most likely something that I can buy off the shelf to achieve this goal.

There are 2.4ghz transmitters that can plug into a computer, so you could do it with just a laptop, or with "Chip" the 9$ computer
