Where To Place Battery On Top Or Bottom Of 450 Quad

Fellas: I have a 450 Chinese quad that is tipping at takeoff. I have the battery mounted on top of the
Quad. I see that some 450 quads are mounted on the bottom. Does it make a difference to where the
battery is placed, or does it really matter. There is a thread and a video on how to check everything
on this forum site, that shows how to check everything to stop tipping. I have tried everything that
they explained in the video and still the quad is tipping. I am really baffled because I have gone by
the numbers and still can't get it to work. Very frustrated. Any help is appreciated. The Spudman

I have read that it is a little more stable on bottom, but I have flown both configs with no difference.

Do you know if your props are installed the correct way, the motors are spinning the right direction, and that they are numbered correctly?

Blades installed same as diagram, using Open Pilot software, with Flysky 6 f's-t6 Tx. 2200mah battery. It should be a piece
cake but it just keeps tipping on takeoff. Thanks The Spudman

i've got mine underneath, but only because that suits the build better. I'd imagine the FCB would have to do less stabilisation work if the quad isn't top-heavy

Not enough of an explanation, you need to be more specific.

cake but it just keeps tipping on takeoff.

Hold it very firmly a couple feet off the ground and with a little throttle make sure all motors are pushing air down. Then tilt it in all directions (one at a time) can you feel it trying to get back to level?

I have done everything by the book, props are spinning in right direction, while holding it, tilted it in every direction and its trying to get
level, props are blowing down, went back on open pilot and made sure of all the configurations, board is the center of quad and pointing
forward, battery is centered on top of quad, everything checks out. And it still wants to flip trying to tale off to a hover. I am a good pilot
and have been flying quads and helicopters for some time and now its almost laughable to why it wants to flip. The Spudman

P.S. I know when we finally figure out what's wrong that it will be something simple but for now its frustrating.

Have you actually delivered enough throttle to make it raise into the air? This specific one may take a full or close to full throttle launch.

Yes I have and as soon as you get it to lift , it starts to (flip, turn over, tip) so I just back off the throttle and power down. I have been flying quads
for a long time and I know what I am doing. Tomorrow I am going to a quadcopter model shop to see if we can figure it out.

Can you tell which motor or motors are not delivering thrust? Could be a cold solder joint, or loose bullet connection.

In a perfect world....we all know you have learned to chew gum and move your right and left thumb....making a perfect windless day a perfect flight!....BUT.............Part of this quad challenge, is also learning about ourselves! Example: If you are a drunk like I me, I'm 60 years old, flying a quad during a morning 'hangover' is not recommended!

Went to the quad shop today, drove 85 miles to get there, the guy who works on 450 quads, it was his day off, so no cigar

I finally found out what was wrong with the quad and it was a simple mistake of mounting the cc3d board in the proper orientation and the quad flies just fine. It was mounted east to west instead of north and south. A simple mistake that had me pulling my hair out, now it works great. Thanks
