Hi Guys the old systems had a crystal so you had to make sure no one else was on that wave band before you turned on, or your make them crash as you will have control of the model, with the 2.4g system when you bind you do 2 things one is set up fail safes but the most important thing your transmitter puts out a code on 2 channels the receiver will lock on to this strongest channel and send a code back to the transmitter ,this then locks the transmitter and receiver so now only you can lock on to this model, So now you can have as many models in the air at the same time and no fear of a conflict
The 5.8g is so it does not interfere with the 2.4g system , so what you have is 2.4 to control the model and 5.8 for FPV range is a little better on 5.8g
