Think I need a bigger quad

Just got my Syma X5C-1 Wed 11/11/15. Hover some in the house because of the weather. Yesterday I was able to hover some out in the front yard. Today was the 1st time I was able to get it out in the open. Now mind you I am nowhere near being able to fly around. But I did slowly hover it across the field and the 1st thing I noticed was it got small real fast, I think I might need a bigger quad. My right eye is 20/20 and the left is growing a cataract that isn't ready to come off yet.

Still being in the learning stage I want to stay in the toy class quads for now and I don't want to invest a lot of money in it yet. I'm thinking $100 give or take. The Syma X8C has caught my eye and it's getting decent reviews. Don't know that I really care about a camera at this point. Headless would be real nice as would a GPS but I don't the GPS will happen at the price point I'm looking.

Anybody have a Syma X8C and what are your thoughts and experience? What else should I be looking at?

Thanks

Thanks HD,
Watched the Flitetest video the other night some very good tips.

From the way I'm reading it the Amazon link doesn't include the transmitter or the extra blades that come with them normally. I keep thinking that the Orange one would be easier to see though to me not as cool looking. I also like the Silver/Black X8G but it doesn't get as good of reviews for some reason. I think the issue is the transmitter, Quadcopter101 tried it with the X8C transmitter and it flew fine.

I did some more looking after I made the post and did see the transmitter essential included. I remember back in my RC Helicopter days we paint them certain colors to make them easier to see, but it's Bennett so long ago I don't remember which colors. Bet Google knows. :-)

Probably have to use model paint. I tried painting the blade guards on the xc5 fluorescent green and it peeled off after the 1st flight. Didn't clean them so the might of still had mold release on them. Actually like the looks of the white one better. The black one is pretty neat looking. Put some white guards on it an 2 white blades and it would be pretty trick. Now how easy it would be to see I don't know.

Thanks, Gramps! I was thinking of painting my next build just for a change. I'm glad you posted this. I would have ended up with a nearly invisible quad if I used the colors I wanted.
