syma x5sw camera won't go into wifi search mode

I have a new x5sw and the camera light is supposed to turn green, then a red light is supposed to blink making the camera's signal searchable. It does this about 10% of the time, mostly both lights just stay on. When it does work, I am able to receive video. Is my camera crap or am I just dumb?

When the camera works, the drone flies fine. I've had zero problems with the drone itself. The camera does cut out fairly easy and loses wifi connection.

That's to be expected, and when both the TX and FPV are both 2.4Ghz there are often interference problems. It can also cut the range of the quad significantly. I don't know why it doesn't always pair to your phone though, but even when it works it's barely adequate.

This may be your best bet for a much better FPV solution and one that can moved to other quads you get.

Couple noob questions, does that plug right in to my x5sw (same connectors?).

This will eliminate the need to use my phone correct?

Will I still be able to take pics and video since its for a diff model of quad?

I have this same quad. Sometimes the wifi will keep searching every 20 seconds or so... sometimes a little longer. it wont pick it up right away. The upgrade to the monitor is a good idea.

Mine does that sometimes too. Today I got it to connect with my phone and just "pretend" flew it around my house while holding it. I lost connection after about 30 seconds.

I'll be able to turn on recording and pictures from the controller like the x5c correct?

Im not sure. I was considering that syma fpv system too. Im not sure how much better it it is. My wifi works pretty good for a cheap system, but the speed is too slow to actually fly with it unless you go really slow.

Have you tried it outside? Mine works better outside. The farther away you get it cuts out.

I bought mine as an entry level ( learn to fly) quad. Mine has been great for that. I probably have 40 hrs on it and have replaced motors and gears. Its durable too. Ive crashed the crap out of it. The legs are kind of weak. Ive plastic welded them many time and bought extra. (Dive bombing tight runs can be tough on the legs if you hit the ground) Its fpv is not great, but its been good enough to start. Also for the price it allows agressive flying because its not a huge loss if it gets smashed or flys away. I lost my eachine racer 250 this weakend with a runcam on it and believe me, id rather it had been my little syma. No offense but if fpv was your main intention then you bought the wrong quad to begin with. Pay more and get a better system right out of the gate, but a better system it harder on you when you lose or destroy it. :)

I realize the one I bought wasn't top of the line, I just wish the camera worked at least as well as advertised. Will that camera setup, the 5.8, work with better copters?

Have you contacted the seller of the quad? Maybe do that first and find out about warranty. Otherwise amazon has a repacement camera for about $30 and Banggood has one for about $20. The Syma kit is self contained, the monitor and camera are paired together. As far as putting it on another quad... depends on the quad and your shade-tree mechanic skills. :) most things can be made to work or fit with enough imagination. ;)

Fyi- the Syma fpv kit is 51 on banggood and $56 on Amazon under the name GoolRC. If you get one let us know how it works. I was considering getting one but all my money is going to a replacement quad for the one I lost.
