So I was letting someone take a shot at flying my Syma X1 quadcopter (big mistake, I know) but I figured replacement props are 2$ so what's the worst that could happen?
So she crashed spectacularly into the ground at a 90 degree angle at full throttle and one of the propeller gets bent. I bend the propeller back and it seems to work fine. But there's a warning on the propeller that says "don't fly if damaged".
Later on I screw on a replacement prop and try to fly it and the thing goes berserk. It can't take off without flipping over. Two of the propeller seem to function normally but the other two are unbalanced and in a constant state of wanting to roll because one is going a lot stronger than the other.
I try tightening the screws and everything else you can possibly think of, nothing resolves the issue. Then I screw the damaged prop back on and lo and behold it starts working fine again.
Any theories about why this is?
More info: The replacement propeller came with the original kit so in theory it should be identical to the one I replaced.
My thinking is that the newer one might have a different weight which is causing the unbalance...
