Solder pads on fc goneburgers

Hi guys,

Been trying to wire up a rx to this tiny 20 x 20 board, unfortunately my neanderthal soldering skills have resulted in 2 missing pads. From the photo can anyone suggest if there might be a pad I can jump to? The right hand arrow is the +5v so that should be easy, the left arrow is the rx signal wire and I'm not sure if it can be soldered somewhere else?

Any help appreciated.

You could try scratching the screen off & try soldering just above.
If your soldering skill ain't that good get an 18watt iron. Not too hot & you can get used to it. Practice on an old TV or hifi.

Depending on what flight controller this is and what receiver you are using, there may be another UART you can use for your rx signal wire.

The esc should supply 5v through the cable but it doesn't lookike there is a spare uart on that board. It looks like you are not using the buzzer pads, so see if you can remap them. But i doubt it.
We need to know what board it is,
I know it's not an omnibus or piko.

& not any specs or info on it either.
Is yours a 1S board. When you get boards this small it doesn't take a lot of heat to warm the whole board. Even the ground wires. You need to get a micro tip soldering iron if going this small. Maybe a battery operated one.going by this pic the 2 empty pads maybe a spare uart. As it has R+X by it & not buzzer - + no 5v though unless you jump the camera 5v & hope it's ample mah for vtx cam tx.
Its worth a try as you may aswell bin it.
Unless you can scratch some of the screen away from just above the now empty pads. If I where you I would only buy boards with holes until you learn to Solder or get an iron that's suited for these boards .

I got the same size motors running 4S 500mah. Gut that pig & give it some welly. :D

Next thing to do is work on the soldering. Let's not lift any more pads.
As said, a small tip and less heat will help prevent any more damage to this tiny board.
Trim the exposed wire very close to the cover (you have a lot potential shorts). Use flux, and pre-tin everything.
Then you can solder up the Rx and use the ports tab in Betaflight to test the serial RX.

Little tip don't pick the quad up gripping the pdb. In damp weather.

I used pins starting out with servo connectors. Then just soldered to the pins. Now I just rip all the(carefully) jst connections off & direct Solder the lot.
Keeps the weight down aswell as a mm or two off the stack allows more air in.
Flux is your friend but clean up after him or it will look like a junkies undercrackers before long.

Great, yes I just bought a nice fine tipped, 12w iron with variable temp control. Any recommendations on temp I should try?
So I should put my rx wire on the through-hole and enter a CLI command on Betaflight? Any info on the commands I need?
Still very new to this...
Yup, big motors for a tiny setup, keen to see how it goes before I try and jam it in something else.
