I just got back from an attempted flight. After trying my home built quad (DYS 30amp SimonK ESC, 950+- motors) I took the quad out to a field where I fly occasionally. I have had a problem with one of my motors or ESC- not sure which- in that the motor starts very erratically seemingly not having enough voltage to spin up, but eventually it clears and takes off. This time however the motor burst into flames and then the ESC as well. I have ordered a couple more ESC's of the same ilk, but wonder if these are not very high quality units??? Do I need to go to another manufacturer for these. I will have to replace the motor as well I'm sure.
