Sharper Image's DX-3 is a low-price starter unit, too small and light for FAA interest.
pluses:
*cheap. $30 at my local Ollie's. nothing like indulging a whim with a same-day purchase!
*video or still camera, chip included
*adjustable camera lens. my UDI drives me crazy with the point-down angle.
*flies well.
has a return feature but I didn't use that yet.
minuses:
*lights are barely visible. very easy to lose camera orientation. I plan to paint a white spot on the camera side.
*photo quality not impressive. considering the brand this disappointed me.
does NOT come with screwdriver (first time that's happened!). unit has battery installed and charges directly wi USB.
Li-Poly battery, lasted a good ten minutes. does have spare battery; case accessible with the aforementioned tiny screwdriver.
bottom line; fun starter/alternate unit.
