SG906 Pro2 Max with Collision Avoidance/ HFun Pro

Good morning all,

I'm a new comer to the forum and Drones generally. I've just been looking through the forum sections and articles for anything on the SG906 Pro2 Max (with collision avoidance) and the HFun Pro software. I've had a few preliminary flights trying to get familiar with it all, only one small crash where at about 10m a prop spun off and she dropped to the ground (beach sand) with a slightly bent leg which was easily corrected. But on trying to find out how it happened, I noted there were no screws left on the missing prop blade rear B arm. First three lessons learned. CHECK CHECK CHECK everything before flying for the first time!

That aside - is there a sub groups here or on the web for this particular make / model of Drone - I see so much for the DJI and so little for the ZLRC. My immediate concern is how we update any firmware or software for the drone or the RC to keep it fresh, and any bugs found to be eliminated. I can't seem to even find the correct company website despite a good root around the web. I purchased in January via an Ali store. I'm also keen to know if the flight logs from the HFun Pro can be "uploaded" from the iPhone that I attach to the RC when flying. At moment I simply take a screen shot and email it to myself which seems a bit primitive. Any pointers or info would be extremely welcomed - thanks for reading.

I have good news and bad news . The good news is you have learned why it is people spend the extra cash on DJI, the bad news is you have learned why it is people spend the extra cash on DJI.

Companies selling quadcopters on Ali express or Banggood offer a lot for the price but at the same time they can't be as good at ongoing/long term support or internationalization (translations) of all their manuals etc. and pay for website maintenance etc. while keeping the quads as cheap as possible. This is true in any industry the cheaper products or "consumer grade" will generally lack the level of support given to "enterprise customers" but "enterprise customers" are also charged like 10x more for "the same thing."

This is similarly why Fatshark goggles have always been premium priced (and slow to change anything, maybe too slow), because they can offer support on the products and deal with failings (like when they had to fix a bunch of OLED screens). Whereas if your Skyzones or whatever "knock-off" brand that sells "the same thing" at half the price would leave you out on the street and take the shirt off your back

I think you have a few options in terms of where to go from here it isn't throw in the towel and buy a DJI. I am into tinkering and programming so going the route of building it myself "from scratch" aka following lots of youtube guides at first, was favorable to me and leaves open a lot of options for future upgrades and additions (I have access to the code it isn't controlled by a single entity/company, there are many copies/forks and options: Betaflight, iNav, Butterflight etc. etc.)

Getting something a bit cheaper (even "toy grade" things for $40 from walmart or target in the states) can be a good intro to quads but if you are expecting more out of it then the price starts to go up considerably and fast (similar to camera tech, we all have a camera in our pocket on our phones now basically but if you look into Canon or other pro gear the prices are astronomical, a really good lens still isn't cheap)

Thank you for reading my message and your constructive reply which makes complete sense and I guess you’ve hit the nail on the head too when it comes to price. The pity is the device seems from the outside, well-built and fully functional although it has twice apparently "lost signal" momentarily - on one occasion ascending some 12 metres without input control (which I don’t think was caused by a met condition though can never be certain without more data which doesn’t exist). But that aside I’m finding it very good for learning and practise. I have my eyes on an expensive dual camera drone- rgb/thermal - for work use but rather than do any damage in my learning phase to that, find it better to practise/ with the SG906 as a training tool and less expensive to repair. Luckily, I have a very wide and long open beach on my doorstep where I live for practise flights. I had the joy of being with my architect yesterday to view another 5-storey building parapet which has water ingress and he was using his new DJI mini-2. I was very impressed by its performance in stability and software use. I can see why you pay more for the DJI.
