You should be using at least 10" props. I use very inexpensive 2212/1000kv motors with 1045 props that in an actual test managed 700+ grams of thrust with 3S.2) 9" props
3) just 4x 2212 motors

Give a link to the ESCs and motors you are using. You should be using at least 10" props. I use very inexpensive 2212/1000kv motors with 1045 props that in an actual test managed 700 grams of thrust with 3S.

9'' 3 blade props then? hahahaI've got some 1045 props currently on order from Banggood - based on recent experience, they should arrive sometime ~never~, but looking at the S550 frame, I'm not even sure whether 10" props will actually fit without colliding with each other (if they do, it's gonna be close!)
ESC's are the 15A Multistars - they came with the original S500 kit, I used like-for-like with the new hex frame. Likewise motors - they're the Multistar 2212 920kv units.
I didn't notice any heat build-up with the S500 quad frame - either battery, ESC's, motors or wiring in between - just a distinct lack of air between the frame and the ground!
Point 2 of your adjacent 9" props at each other. You just need to have a tad over 1" between them.I'm not even sure whether 10" props will actually fit without colliding with each other
You just need to have a tad over
You just need enough room that they don't touch to be honest hahahaha. If you need them to be short enough not to touch then make a prop cutting jig. You might have to balance afterwards, but on minis you can cut an inch or more off and not even balance.Metric or Imperial?!?
That's what I mean - it's a tad/fraction/sliver/gnat's hair over 1" between adjacent props. I'll let you know if they fit - if Banggood ever actually deliver (ordered 27th Feb with tracking info paid for/requested… nothing here yet, despite frequent "conversations" with their online reps (who's standard response is: "just wait another week"!)
LOL, after further research?Darn! The throttle is still SO sensitive! After further research, I've found that although I can't change the throttle curve on my Orange T-Six TX, I CAN change those settings within Librepilot itself.
That's where throttle curves and EXPos come into play. Either in Libre Pilot or on your radio.
Hahahaha, I know the feel, it is like you are using one of your switches and just free falling or climbing. To lang you free fall for longer than you throttle up hahahahaThat makes sense, GJH - thanks. I'll extend my adjustments down through the 25% area too - that way I should (hopefully) eradicate this bird's propensity to fall in a rock-like fashion when attempting to land… wish me luck!
