When I did my test flight of my homemade Faraday cage surrounding my vtx, I didn't mention that I had control issues. I had intended to fly a short mission, letting the autopilot fly the aircraft while I watched the video on my monitor. But as soon as I switched on the autopilot, the copter took off in the wrong direction and I had to quickly take over manually. I had quite a time, as it was also a windy day, but I managed to get it closer and hit RTL, which worked and it landed okay, though it took awhile to disarm the motors.
This morning, I downloaded the logs and discovered this (GPS Status log):
Note: I am using an APM 2.6 flight controller and the Mission Planner app installed on my desktop for configuration, waypoint mission creation, and troubleshooting.
I searched for clues as to what this could be and all I could find was some vague info on possibly losing satellites that are close to the horizon. If that's the case, then each time I fly is a crap shoot. I don't have any display like DJI guys have that provide status, so I'm going to see about getting a cheap used laptop that I can take out to the field and load Mission Planner on it - I have a small 950 Mhz telemetry transceiver that connects to the computer via a USB port. From now on, I will monitor telemetry before and during launch, for any warnings that might pop up...
