First post & fairly new to all this so please be gentle. We bought our son a quadcopter for Christmas and it's great fun, so much so that I treated myself to a mini one and shortly after bought my partner a 'midi' sized one. We love them. However, I love tinkering and after messing around with these for a while I've decided (as you do) to build a fully autonomous machine.
Now, I've a half decent understanding of the electronics involved and I'm very familiar with the Raspberry Pi and programming it (Python / C++).
My question is, and it's going to be the first of many, is there any advantage to having the Pi communicate with a flight controller or should I just cut out the middle man and have the Pi talk to the ESC's directly through PWM ?
