One of my 3.7V 800mAh LiPo's has gotten puffy like a balloon. What causes this and can it still be used? It is not old and has been charged maybe 3 times. Thanks.
Yeah, thought so. Haven't been using it, so guess i'll chunk it and order some extras again. ThanksI have always heard that is bad, even dangerous. I have never taken a chance with those, always thrown them away.
As I was told when asking if they were safe to use is "the safe answer is no".
Thanks for the info, that's what I've been doing! Once they puff are they any good?Batteries typically puff not so much from overcharging, but when discharged below 3 amps. Don't fly until your craft loses power, that means your battery is drained too far.
I have a Syma X5sw-1 with 3.7 800mAh and 600mAh batteries. I guess I am flying too long after lights blink. Good flights can do that I guess. ThanksWith the toy quads I got, in my experience when they drop out of the sky, a quick check shows the battery to be at ~ 3.6-3.8V. I guess if you leave it sitting there after a flight with the lights blinking and forget about it can drop too low.

What do you have?
I punctured mine with a hoe to watch em flame out. They can get violently combustible, hehe. Then I trashcan em.You can take it to any large electronics store like Best Buy, they have a battery disposal bin. Or if you want to do it your self, mix up a pail of salt water and throw the battery in it and leave for a few days, then it's good to throw in the trash.
