Prolux 3830 microprocessor 1-4cell lipo charger.

So I already have 2 lipo(balance) chargers. So before I had a snooze Christmas day I decided to add another one to get me out there quicker.
It came today & quickly realised that there was no balance ports.
There was only 2 pictures on ebay so assumed it was out of view same as the plug that isn't on it aswell.
So what I want to ask you guy's is,
Will this charge our normal Lipo's just through the main lead.
Obviously no balance port, but with it being microprocessor, is it brainy enough to figure which cell is which through the main lead. I've never come across a cell lipo with no balance plug. If need be I can post a picture but I just need to know if there is such magic out there. Lol oh & to make things better the cell start button stuck on the first press. So it's going back anyway. But do I get a replacement or just look for somthing else if the vendor has anymore.

I bought it so I could have a charger in work, they let me charge em in the workshop. My overlander is to big to take in, & my ISDT ain't going anywhere.
Just wanted to see how this went for the price.

So how does it charge a 4 cell?

It will just pump out the combined voltage of the pack. For a 4s = 16.8V, when it senses that voltage it shuts off. A typical 4 button charger does the same... but because of the balance lead being able to monitor each cell it will start discharging the cells that are going over 4.2V to keep them from over charging. It's basically switching between charging the low cells and discharging the higher voltage cells. That's why trying to balance an almost fully charged pack (let say one cell of a 3s pack = ~4.07V) can take forever. Which is why folks will make a simple 2 pin connector where, the 2 pins, hooked to =/- on your charger, which are spaced to fit into the balance plug, to simply and quickly charge the low cell through the balance plug.

So this will work just not as good (obviously) as a balance. I have read ppl use these for a few charges but then balance the lipos on a balance charger.

You can get a decent very portable balance charger quite cheap if you shop around and read reviews. I always balance charge my multi-cell LiPo's, because...why not?

That was my aim, I wanted a charger I could leave in work. This being £12 an all. Only I thought it was a balance charger designed the ports put of view.
I was going to send it back, I told them a button was bust & the description wasn't very good. But they said keep it or throw it & refunded me. So I will see how it goes on my 350-450mah.
