Problem With Spektrum AR8010T Receiver

This morning I tried to fly my Tarot quad but could not get it to arm nor tilt the camera gimbal. After taking it home and connecting it to my laptop for troubleshooting I noticed the the LED on the receiver was blinking even though the transmitter was on. Going to the Radio Calibration page in Mission Planner confirmed my suspicion that the receiver is not responding to any commands from the transmitter.

I connected to another quadcopter and it responded so I know that the transmitter is working. I then tried to bind the receiver on the Tarot to the transmitter, but while the bind seemed successful, the receiver LED went back to blinking. No matter what sequence of powering down equipment and powering back up seems to clear the problem.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm beginning to think that the receiver has gone bad....

You need to do the software upgrade to the receiver and you may have to do the transmitter as well

I have a DX8 transmitter - the manual does not mention upgrading firmware and I can find no programming port.

I don't know why, all of a sudden, I would need to change firmware on the receiver, as it has been working fine. It just recently started exhibiting this behavior. I would think that if it was in some sort of funny state, simply rebinding would do the trick, but it doesn't.

Right now, I'm trying to decide if I should buy the programming cable and try to put the firmware in the receiver or just replace the receiver - a new AR8010T is $80 - would rather not spend that if I don't have to....

Go to Spektrums web site put in your receiver number it will tell you if there is an up date i cant check due to i dont have the receiver , i only said this due to telemetry receivers doing the same as yours staying in bind mode

Well, I bought the update cable - it arrived today, and I downloaded the Spektrum Updater application, But I could not find any firmware updates. I contacted tech support at Horizon Hobby and he confirmed that the version of firmware I have is the latest. He had no suggestions other than to replace the receiver. I guess that's what I'm going to do - I need to have a reliable receiver as I don't want to risk the time and $$ invested in the aircraft....

I found the problem! There is a cable, consisting of three wires, that connects the receiver to it's satellite. The ground lead is broken off at the connector.
