Phantom research and almost decision time.....maybe Hahaha

Okay, I know everyone is tired of me still mulling it over. Mull mull

I keep looking and reading and almost make up my mind to buy a.....................fill in the blanks.
But, I go back to the Phantom 3 standard. And then I remind myself that for FPV on a Phantom you need to use a )(*&^%^%#^&%&*&^ SMART PHONE! Ughhh

So here is my question is there an "elegant" non kluge way to get FPV on a Phantom that does not use a phone? I guess that would mean a controller that is DJI compatible and has an FPV screen.

Possible????

Hi mate I have the Phantom 1 yes the first one and the way I FPV was to use a small sony board camera and FPV transmitter but things have moved on , you can then use a monitor on a tripod or base station even goggles if your not using a gimbal and camera you can mount under the belly of the Phantom here the sort of things to look at

Goggles are definitely out for me. Adding a screen to a controller is probably worse that hanging a Smart Phone on the transmitter, at least for me. But I was amazed at the stuff available.

Here would be my preference on the Phantom. Or any similarly capable Quad for that matter.

One camera for FPV and for taking pictures and videos under the control of one Transmitter/controller.
Built in screen on Transmitter/controller for FPV. No Smart Phone, no external screen.
Prefer FPV not be of the WiFi type.

I may be all wet here. Would not be the first time.............this year.....hahah

Hi Bill they do a monitor that you fit to a tripod so its not on the transmitter or Hobby king does a shoulder mount so you wear it , you need to take care using the one camera for FPV and video they have latency ( lag in the image coming back from the camera your crash before you know you have crashed) so your better off using a monitor you can record off some will take a memory card , or a tiny FPV camera mounted on top of quad then a gimbal and camera controlled by the transmitter

Ok, shoulder mount might work.

Latency could be an issue, but I would only use it to set up picture shots. Not for navigation.

Using my cheap Tarantula, I only take videos. When I view it, I grab individual frames as. Jpg for saving.
I get decent results. With a much better camera should be good
