Opinion on Mavic Air

Doesn’t sound like anyone owns an Eachine E511S. Having a issue and with no support network I’m afraid it’s going back. Didn’t last but a couple weeks.

Before laying out the cash, what’s the scoop on the Mavic Air? Reliable? The E511S was fun while I it lasted, but the 4K video and extended range of the Mavic is tempting. And I’d like a support network to bounce questions off of.

Yup there can always be things that slip past QC but in general DJI is known for pretty decent quality and good customer support (big community as well) think it's a pretty safe bet if you are into cinematic or aerial photography type flying. Only downsides I see with DJI are, 1 not good for acrobatic/freestyle/racing style flying, 2 can be somewhat expensive, 3 bit of vendor lock in (proprietary goggles, batteries etc) and restricted on where you can fly unless you ask permission to unlock

Restricted on where based on the type or capability of the device? I’d be considered a hobbyist, just for fun, not for profit. Don’t live near an airport, military base, etc.

Restricted areas include heliports (including hospital landing pads) municipal and private landing strips. Just google DJI NFZ for more information. Unlike other companies, DJI drones won't fly in these zones unless you contact DJI to have it unlocked.

Have just seen others post here about local airport or whatever causing issues with getting the quad to arm because of gps fencing in general I don't think this will be a problem if you're flying outside of any controlled/restricted airspace, but just something I've seen mentioned here by others as an issue.

only get a DJI if photography is your aim I love my Dji Phantom 3 Standard I got it second-hand off ebay so the price wasn't too steep but that's all it does explore and take great pics/video but for fun I fly my Syma X25 ..... I live near a airport in fact the flight path goes right over my house and I can take off with the Phantom no worries but I never go higher than my roof
