Ok so I’ve decided i want to get into the whole quad copter scene and want to start off. Don’t want to start off with one of these pre made kits and would much rather start off with something I’d built myself. I built my mates DJI f450 kit with little problems but I don’t really have the cash to splash on the DJI atm. I’ve found a airframe i like and order it. Need to decide on what motors, ECS’s and props to use now. below is what i propose to use. Any comments/advice would be much appreciated
Frame – Turnigy Talon V2 Quad copter frame (300g bare airframe)
Motor:-
Choice 1 - NTM Prop Drive Series 28-30A 800kv (short shaft version)
Choice 2 - NTM Prop Drive Series 2826 1000kv
ESC - Afro ESC 30Amp Multi-rotor Motor Speed Controller (SimonK Firmware)
Props – 10 x 4 SF
FC – KK2.0 HC
Battery – Mixtures ive been given all 3s. 3500, 2200, 4000 & another 3500
TX – Futaba T10CG 2.4
All I’ve left to buy are the motors and the ECS please advise me if I’ve chosen wisely
 
I really like Afro ESCs for the SimonK firmware. I'd offer that generally NTM motors are not known for having the most reliable bearings around. If you look at comparisons online, they degrade quite a lot quicker than most others. I'd go with anything else! I'd even go with a little lower kv on that 500mm frame.

It runs 3S, well inside of your ESCs, and it comes with prop adapter and NOT grub nuts! (I hate grub nuts)
Even if you don't buy from HobbyKing, their "motor finder" on the right side of the main page is a good shopping tool.

Did you REALLY pay $600 for that Futaba? I'd rather have my Taranis for just over $200! If you compare features, I think you'd agree.
If you paid that much for a radio, you might consider SunnySky motors. I think mine are the best I've found.
 
No sadly a family member passed away and I inhertited the tx. Tbh I intend to replace the quad in 6 month and already planning my next built just need something to learn to fly with n doesn't cost that much to built/fix
 
Well take a look at the motors I linked. Stick with the nice cheap plastic props. And don't worry about buying a couple of 3S Lipos. They work well as ground station power after you build a 4S or higher quad.
 
Yes if eloped at the link thanks, I've been recommended the sun sky motors before. A lot of people sing there phrases . Is found some here in the uk for £15.00'sommight go for them. Just need some at cheap that's gonna last for a while whilst I learn how to fly. Was going to get the dji masa but see it as just pushing sticks about not really learning to fly. I'll no doubt get one wen I get my dslr ring sorted but for fpv and fun I want to do the flying myself any reason you'd lower the KV
 
It's a 500mm quad frame, so lower kv will result in longer flight duration, and better payload if you want to use this setup later.
