O.K. Many will disagree with me. Here is my premise: If you create a product, like a drone of a Gopro camera, it should be a COMPLETE product.
Unless you are someone who buys a new mobile phone and new tablet every two years, it is possible, even likely, that you will need to buy a new one in order to down load the app needed to fly your drone or make remote settings to your camera. I have a Yuneec Q500 and a Yuneec Typhoon H and both come with radio controllers that have built-in android monitor/screens. Some of the Newer DJI drones have their own dedicated remote controllers with view screens. I also own a JJRC X12. Trying to get the app to function was very difficult. Finding a Users Manual, nearly impossible. Communication with Jian Jian was Theater of the Absurd.
Here is the crux or the problem. Most if not all of these products are produced in China. Communication with some of these companies is difficult and/or impossible. They don't have effective English/Chinese translators. We sometimes smile reading the garbled English in user manuals that come with Chinese products. They seem to be translated with Google Translate. When you try to contact support, the question you ask is often NOT understood and the answer has no relevancy to your query--that is if you get any reply at all. This brings us to the "app". The apps can function three ways: They offer flying controls: They allow you to remotely cnange settings in the camera or drone; They act as a remote monitor allowing you to see what the camera sees. But many simply DO NOT WORK. The wi-fi or bluetooth connections are spurious and glitch-prone. And maybe they will work with the phone or tablet you happen to have or MAYBE NOT. So you may be faced with laying out some big bucks for a new phone or tablet. I favor complete products. Build the mini tablet screen into the controller. No more frustration with flakey apps and tablets with the wrong ios.
