As an over 70 Newbee, I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction. I have bought a fairly cheap quadcopter - JXD 509W and am finding it very difficult to contol the the left and right joysticks. When I attempt to take off, the quad starts to veer all over the place. Could anyone recommend some sort of idiots guide that I could refer to. I have watched loads of Youtube videos but they seem to gloss over the basics.

Check to see if there are other flight modes. You you may be taking off in rate mode which is all manual.

Check your manual for a calibration procedure, it will be some sort or combination of stick placement before you start flying.
