Hello!
I bought my kids some Syma X5C-1 quads for Christmas that I found as a lightning deal on Amazon for $40. I really never expected them to last more than a few days, but to my surprise we are still flying them and having a blast. These things have turned my attention to quads and the abilities of quads has amazed me. I have decided it would be a fun project to do a build with my son, I figured it would be good for him to learn a project from start to finish and get some experience with how things work. I already own a Futaba 6EX 2.4Ghz transmitter and a FAST rcvr, so I am thinking I can make this work.
From what I have seen, most of the 250's and even 150's are tuned to move fast and be very agile. I am wondering if there is a setup I could build that is not so fast and is kinda-sorta more lazy (if that makes any sense). I was thinking something that we could safely fly around the yard (we have a huge yard) and easily make adjustments before you hit the tree. Then as he gets more comfortable, we could increase the performance. I probably would not start with FPV, but would like to add it later.
