Alright folks. Just posting to get an idea. My sister bought me a parrot rolling spider for christmas and ive hammered it. A good piece of kit for messing about in the house.
Then i started reading online and within a day had ordered an emax nighthawk 250 build kit.

I really want to learn and master the hobby and get into fpv flying. I need to buy a transmitter.. but what? How many channels will i need and what will each do?

Does a transmitter come with a receiver to plug into the quad and will it be 2.4 ghz? And if it is what would be the best channel to use for a fatshark set? What sort of range can expect from both the quad, and the fatshark ?

I have the Taranis, and love it, but its not for everyone since everything has to be configured. Many folks like the Spektrum radios. You will need at least 4 channels at minimum, but I would recommend 6 or more to change functions inflight.

Most radios today come in 2.4ghz, and the fpv equipment come in other frequencies, 5.8ghz probably being the most popular.

What type of flying are you planning on? Racing, photography, or best of both? Also, what is the budget?

Here is a video of my old 500mm flown with the immersion 600 watt vtx, and fatshark googles. Out in the country the range is much greater.

I'm a budget guy. This looks like a deal. Quite sophisticated with all the bells and whistles. Reviews have been quite favorable.

A minimum of 4 channels are needed to fly, and more channels are usually knobs or switches. They can con troll a lot of different things, but usually are used for settings on your flight controller like switching from stabilization to auto-level, or return to home. FPV usually uses 5.8gHz while 2.4gHz is mostly used by radio transmitters.

The flight controller in the kit is a naze 32. Have no previous experience with any of this stuff. Been having a look at the turnigy x9, they any good and would the receiver plug straight into this flight controller? I think i read it was sbus, is that basically the language it speaks and understands?
And as an example i want to add a discovery beeper to the quad, would that take up a channel on the transmitter?

I have a futaba at home from years ago when i had a glider.. would i be able to take the receiver out of the glider and use that? Or would is there a chance it could have different connectors?
Just looked.. its a futaba skysport 6
