My quad just stopped working right after putting it together

This is my first build so I apologize if my phraseology isn't exactly correct or a bit confusing.

I have a 5 inch I just put together. Everything seemed to be workingish, at least functional. I powered it up and only the 2 and 3 motors where spinning, unless I added yaw input. I went into betaflight and changed the the ESC protocol to DSHOT and that seemed to fix it. I powered it up again, all motors spinning, it flew up about a foot and then motors stopped and dropped about a foot into (dry) grass. I figured the battery was dead so I charged it up and now its not working. It gets power, has the start up tone and the lights looks normal, but motors wont spin. Betaflight also cannot see my FC and I can't reflash it. My tx still connects to my rx when I power it up so I know something is sort of working. Looking at everything, no solders seem to have come undone, there wasn't any smoke or burning. Getting a little frustrated and discouraged, being it is my first build so any help would be appreciated!

The first thing I would try is flashing the firmware. If this doesn't work it could be something like a 5 volt regulator on the board might have fried.
