Motor shafts

Upon closer inspection it appears that yesterday's crash bent a couple of motor shafts.

I don't want to buy new motors and I also expect this will happen again and so I need to purchase some shafts for my Angel 2212 800kv motors.

There has to be somewhere that sells them, its an easy job to replace the shafts.

If you can't find them for sunnysky you may be able to purchase equivalent t-motor sized shafts. Seems like I have paid around 4 bucks for them before.

Angel 2212 shaft is what you are looking for, they should fit multiple motors, so KV does not matter. Here is something I found that may be helpful.

If you had motors that had mounting holes for these I'd suggest you get a bold on motor mount, much harder to bend, most I've done was break a screw.

Unfortunately for these types of motors there is no shaft (in the tradition sense) to replace. The 'shaft' and the bell (the outrunner part) are one assembly. If you unclip the C ring from the bottom and pull you'll see what I mean. I use similar motors that are mounted to my booms with two nylon cable ties. This is a built point of failure, hopefully the ties snap (they have) before the shafts get bent. Don't know how yours are attached but if bolted, you may want to look into plastic or nylon bolts.

I will look into using plastic next time, they were screwed on with metal screws. I just thought the props would snap before the shafts bent.
I can't afford new motors for a while, oh well it's just part of learning.

Hi Zec this is a bit crude but I did one of mine buy putting the motor in a vice and power it up , as it spins tap the shaft with a small hammer to reduce the bend in the shaft , it will not do it fully but will get you flying again , if you have a lave thats even better as you can spin it and put pressure on the shaft to reduce the bend

I have just taken the bell off of one motor and it looks like the shaft can be replaced, it has the grub screw holding it in place.
They are the type where the shaft extends out of the bell and has no screw holes in the top of the bell.

You may be able to get some better ones made at an engineering company stronger than the old ones

Makes them stronger because the shaft is a lot thicker and in the event of a really hard impact you can either unscrew it and replace it, or replace the screws that get sheared of in the bell.

Just hack about with what you have then upgrade to a better motor I have T style prop mounts very low profile , most of the new motors are having this fitting now

I now know why I bent the shafts, the prop holders (don't know their proper name) that slip onto the shaft were slightly too short and so the shaft wasn't properly protected.

That will help a lot, worst case you could shorten the shaft a bit,

Hi Zec these motors are just cheap mass made motors for cheap china quads ( sorry didnt want to sound off ) they are good motors as long as you dont crash , If it was me I would get some nicer motors as soon as poss , look at ones like I linked you to they are tougher and your snap props and arms not bend shafts, the prop adapter never fit all the way down the shaft my boy has these motors and has bent many shafts on them

Its fine, I understand. I didn't have a very good budget for the build, an accident some years ago left me in chronic pain and unable to walk and so I'm unable to work. I was given some money on my birthday and decided to build a quad as I have been wanting to do it for ages.

I have seen these motors, not sure which to buy (it will be next year now).
