Long time build still not working

So I started this build a long time ago and have only flown the thing for about 30 mins. I seem to have a configuration which does not work.
I have the following: Naze32 Afroflight flight controller, 6ch tx, 4 in 1 20A ESC with built in PDB and 4x Multistar Elite 2204-2300KV Multi-Rotor Motor 3-4S. Sometimes it takes off and then flips instantly, othertimes it doesnt move when throttling. Was just wondering if any of you had any ideas

Try updating your naze 32 to cleanflight 2.2, works great on mine. Don't forget to calibrate your escs. Also check the min/max throttle values. Mine wanted a specific number there, like 1987 for max. Those older components can be quirky.

Yeah just need to go step by step and see what's going on, flips can be a result of motors spinning the wrong way or loose/backwards props or FC orientation being wrong... lots of things really. To check the signals between the receiver and FC or FC and ESCs you could use a oscilloscope, PWM signals are easy to just look at and see the width change for different value, for other digital signals it may be more difficult to decode them, but would be able to see signal or no signal for sure even with a relatively cheap "DSO" handheld oscilloscope (I use one of the DIY kits for diagnosing a lot of my hobby electronics stuff). Beyond that might be worth just getting a newer FC that supports betaflight since the diagnostics you can do there with running motors from the interface and tweaking protocols may be helpful (note I have 0 experience with cleanflight itself so maybe possible in there to test motors as well to eliminate the receiver from the equation).

Hey thanks for the reply, and sorry for the very late response. The naze is currently running on cleanflight I believe and I've also tried multiple other softwares such as betaflight. All have the same outcome.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late response. I don't believe any propellers are rotating the wrong way as I've checked diagrams and run the props at low speeds to verify the orientation. As for the signals this all sounds a little confusing for me but I do know that the channels are correct after verifying on cleanflight. If the max and min throttle is not correct or something like that, would that affect it? Sorry if my response is confusing, this sorta stuff confuses me but I want to learn it. No worries regarding reading the signals can use the receiver tab to see the inputs if the range is wrong in betaflight (not going from 1000 on stick low to 2000 on stick high) then can use rxrange to get/set the range just search rxrange to find some tutorials on it. Can also run ESC calibration never hurts just in case ESCs aren't interpreting the low to high range from FC correctly.
