`Alright Gentlemen and ladies. I am about to order things in. But first i want to run them by you guys. So this are the parts i will be ordering before the week ends. Please don't hold back, tell it to me straight if there are places are might have overdone,undone or yet to do.

so what is it that i am to do?
1) succefully build this beast
2)Program in something for obstacle avoidance with the use of those sensors. 4 of those
3)i would also like to do something about this altitude control too. wish to make my own settings and at the same time get to the part of recaliberating the balances across this quad, for better stability


so what is it i am asking?
1) How do i know if the weight is ok? what's the calculations for it. in other words can that motor take the beating
2)is the battery an overkill? i say this for few reasons. (i)I do not plan to take this for joy rides, that comes later with the second build. I just want to get to know this fields (ii) considering what it will be giving out, are their parts that i might not be aware of that can be in danger from the power giing off from it? i see the Q brain is a sort of regulator, but what about the flight board,who watches him?
3)The transmitter, what is the difference between 6 and 9? i wonder if getting 6 is ok?
4)Gyro where is it?
5)if there is something i missed please kindly let me know. Thank you


p/s: it is my first build and i apologize if my questions are embarassing, please bare with me. Same goes for my way of typing. Thank you...i'll be waiting for comments.

Looks pretty good for a first build. Make sure you've got lotsa zip ties, shrink tubing and a good soldering station. Motors are fine with that size props and the battery isn't overkill (although you should order at least two) the only thing I'd do different is the KK2 is OK for a cheap build but I'd go with something better like the Pixhawk, Tarot ZYX-M or Naza-M that have GPS for position hold, RTH etc.

Unless you have other plans for flashing the arduino bootloader and writing your own FW for the KK board I don't think that sensor will work. Also I'd suggest different motors, the NTM look good on paper, but have been plagued with quality problems particularly with the bearings. Lower KV would be better for the 4S setup, but with bigger props IF possible.

Als you will need some sort of power distribution, preferably one with a little 12-14v lead that plugs into the KK voltage sensor so that you can setup a voltage alarm. You don't want LVC kicking in and causing you to drop out of the sky.

Perhaps think twice about that battery… I bought a couple of the 3000MAH versions, then wondered why my XK380 kept falling from the sky. It wasn't that the battery was "bad" (per se), but that the discharge rate wasn't high enough to fuel the voltage requirements of the craft fast enough. These batts discharge at 10C only, peaking to 20C

Maybe consider something like these instead? (higher discharge rate, and considerably cheaper price. They won't provide quite as much flight time between charges, but for this price you can almost buy 2 of them and have 50% longer (combined) flight time vs the one you listed)

Or, if you're set on the 4000MAH time, there's this 4S battery instead (assuming you don't mind soldering an XT60 connector to it?)

I have a 3S 5200mAh version, works great for me. Though my 1400mAh version is not too good. Smaller batteries need higher C ratings of course because C*(mAh/1000)=Amp_output

I was questioning the OP's quoted battery discharge rate, not the capacity or the cell count. IME lower discharge rates = a recipe for broken stuff!

Yeah, I was referring to the multistar 4Ah battery. I've never used it, so might agree on opting for a higher rating.

thank you GJ and wldor. so now there are corrections i must make.
1) the battery. i will go with the first choice given because i like the weight and the discharge rate combination. and yes getting two is the best thing to do.
2)from what was said earlier about the flight controller choice i made and how it might not work out well with my idea of further merging sensors for obstacle avoidance, i can't remember where i read it but i think someone was saying kk board can't be programmable for this kind of thing. Not sure. so i guess going to dig deeper.

Well the KK and Arduino use the same chip (Atmel) and so you can flash the KK to think it is an arduino basically.

Hahahaha, no I meant on the PDB, where you said "power distribution with 12-14kv" 12-14kv means 12,000-14,000 volts. I meant remove the K so you just have V as the unit for the voltage range hahahahaha

:rolleyes: ha! ya i mean't 12v. just as in the link. And when you said remove k. my mind went straight to "KK". so i take it that the idea of bringing in the uno isn't a bad idea then. :)

Hahaha, I have a couple KKs, really like them. As for using the sensor you will probably need the Arduino Uno to use it.
