First time posting on this forum, I figured I'd finally create an account since there's so much good information here. I'm very much a beginner but I do have a decent level of understanding as I managed to build, fly and maintain my BnF ImpulseRC Apex with Flyduino KissFC and ESC with TBS radio and video. Basically a Mr. Steele kit that I picked up to get into this.
I now want to move to HD FPV and I got myself a Caddx Vista. My only conundrum now is I'm anxious.. I don't want to fry this thing so I want to make sure I know what I'm jumping into as I literally cannot find any information whatsoever about pairing Caddx with Kiss. I come here humbly asking for advice.
1. I'd like to know whether I need a regulator board of any sort to ensure clean voltage to the caddx. Up to this point, everything was wired straight to the ESC pads, From what I understand, the Caddx is delicate and doesn't like big voltage spikes so I wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing before I fry it.
2. I cannot seem to get any decent information as to how to get any sort of telemetry through Kiss. I do have the ImpulseRC OSD board that came with the kit but I do not have it wired as of yet since I wasn't planning on flying analog with this new kit. I am mainly concerned of getting voltage readout on my goggles while flying. I don't care about anything else.
Would greatly appreciate any guidance, wisdom, or suggestions. I feel like I'm swimming against the current by trying to pair these 2 but I want to know if it's possible as I really love the flight characteristics of the Kiss and I've just gotten used to it but I desperately want to get into HD/Digital FPV and utilize my DJI goggles for something more exciting than flying a Mavic.
I wanted to come back here and let anyone who's interested in doing this know that it can indeed be done. Alex Fedorov has rolled a custom Firmware that is flashable through his modded KISS GUI. Once flashed, going to Advanced settings in GUI allows you to select and designate MSP to either Serial 1 or Serial 3.. That is "RX1, TX1, RX3, TX3" on the board. RX3 and TX3 are located at the top layer of the KISS FC in the 6 pin socket. plugging the 6 spin socket that came with the caddx vista in there, but only soldering the RX/TX wires. Leaving the rest disconnected.
After that it's just a matter of enabling OSD on the goggles.
Apologies for the crappy photos, took these before leaving for a trip in a hurry.
