Hi Harry , the way to look at it is if you buy a good transmitter ( it will have to be the orange clone MM put forward or a second hand spektrum) your have it for long time there is a new DX6 out so the old DX6i will be about second hand , it will fly more models you can shake your wallet at , i started with the DX6i and still have it i also have a DX9 only because i fly scale helis , a good 6 channel transmitter will give you 2 spare channels for add on to a home made quad like retracts lights etc
Also its makes things fly better as they have better gimbals , if you get the RTF blade nano it still does not come with a good transmitter ,you really need a computerised programable transmitter , so if cost is a problem then the orange will sort you out , and once you have this then you can buy BNF which are cheaper , so your not wasting money
